What do I wear to physical education?
The answer to the question is...
ALWAYS SNEAKERS!
Sturdy running sneakers with good soles.  No platform or fashion sneakers, but ones that will keep me safely on my feet.  Sneakers  should fit well and not come off when moving or kicking. When doing different units we have different needs.  During gymnastics girls should not wear dresses or skirts.  Third, fourth and fifth graders need outdoor wear for the winter units of snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.  A letter will go home to parents explaining the best clothing for these winter units.

Remember:

NO DANGLING OR HOOPED EARRINGS!  These can be pulled out during movement or caught on  clothing, hair or eqipment.

With the new field trip policy, I will send a form home before winter units. Many days when snowshoeing or cross country skiing we are on the field outside the school fence.

Grading:

Physical education report cards come home every 10 weeks for 3rd-5th graders.  First and second graders receive report cards at the 20, 30 and 40 week marking period.  Kindergartners receive report cards at week 20 and 40.  At the end of the first marking period any parent of a kindergarten-2nd grader having difficulty will be notified with a brief report.

Student Expectations

Be prepared for class
Treat others the way they should be treated
Be respectful to the equipment and the facility
Take good care of themselves

Goals

The goals of physical education class are far too numerous to list.  In a nutshell, every student should "experience enjoyable participation in a variety of activities, develop knowledge, enhance confidence and learn to embrace a physically active lifestyle to maintain "fitness for life!"
