Keeping a Writer's Scrapbook Second Grade Purpose:

This summer we want you to start a writer's scrapbook This is YOUR place to store YOUR ideas! What can you put in your writer's scrapbook? That's easy ----- anything & everything!

Here are some suggestions:

___ make lists (friends, favorite foods, yuckiest foods, pets, etc.)
___ drawing pictures is fine, try to put words with you pictures for clarity later
___ tape or glue in "scraps" of you life (pieces of gift wrap, photos, movie tickets, special cards, etc.)
___ write down unusual words or words you just love the sound of
___ write down things that happen or you wish would happen
___ write in the car about where you are going & what you will do when you get there
___ write down thoughts
___ write down daydreams
___ write down any story (fiction or non-fiction)
___ try to describe things as you write them down to help you remember later

The important thing is to write something down! Have fun! You never know which "scrap" will become the start of a special story! Practice.. Practice..Practice!!
