AIS Questions and Answers.
What are academic intervention services (AIS)?
Academic intervention services help students who are struggling to achieve the learning standards in English language arts and mathematics in grades K-12, and social studies and science in grades 4-12.
How does a student become eligible to receive academic intervention services?
1. A student receives AIS if he does not pass an elementary state assessment in English language arts, math, social studies or science.
2. If the student is at risk of not meeting the state standards.
Academic Intervention Services can take place in a small “pull out” program or within the regular classroom. Students may be serviced a few days a week or several days a week depending on the skills or barriers that need to be learned.
