Senior Night for Wrestling Senior Night for Wrestling: On January 17th the Camden Varsity Wrestling Team took on Whitesboro with a final score win  of 63-18.  It was Senior Night as well, and Camden Honored the Following wrestlers and their families: Cody Birmingham Richie Danaher Colby Johnson Josh Mayden John Mitchell Shallen Simpson Gavin Vera Kyle Wines Please click here for more pictures of Senior Night.  
CMS Holds Annual Spelling Bee CMS Holds Annual Spelling Bee: The 5th Annual Camden Middle School Scripps Spelling Bee was held on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Parents, classmates, friends, and family joined together to cheer on over seventy middle school students in grades 5 - 8 as they competed round after round for over two hours. At the end of the competition, seventh graders Abby Farnsworth and Marley Hilliker tied for third place, seventh grader Lindsay Melancon finished in second, and after spelling the winning word "frippery" correctly, sixth grader Hannah Cere was crowned as this year's CMS Spelling Bee Champion. CHS Students Compete in CNY Scholastic Art Competition CHS Students Compete in CNY Scholastic Art Competition: Every year, students from Camden High School submit a select number of artworks to the CNY Scholastic Art Competition.    Since 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have recognized the vision, ingenuity, and talent of our nation’s youth, and provided opportunities for creative teens to be celebrated. Through the Awards, students receive opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarships. Students across America submitted more than 330,000 original works last year in 29 different categories of art and writing.   This year, at the regional level, there were thousands of entries from more than 90 Central New York area school districts.   Four students from Camden have received awards in this very prestigious ...
5th Graders go 5th Graders go "around the world" to learn about holidays: On December 20th, several 5th grade homerooms traveled throughout the building to different classrooms. This was part of their annual "Holidays Around the World" event. Each classroom taught the traditions of different country or winter celebrations. Countries of study included Mexico, Germany, France, Holland, and China. A bonus stop discussing the origins of traditional Christmas carols was also included.   
CMS Teacher Awarded Grant to Expand Classroom Library CMS Teacher Awarded Grant to Expand Classroom Library: CMS Teacher Tara Baker was awarded a grant for $500 from Ther Rome Teachers Federal Credit Union to purchase books for her reading classroom library.  Books were selected based on a "wish list" created by Mrs. Baker's students.  On December 7th, 2018, Mrs. Baker's students, Mr. Harrington, and Mrs. DerCola participated in a Book Reveal Party to preview and sign out the books.   Click here for more pictures of this exciting event!  
Dollar General Gives CCSD $60,000 Dollar General Gives CCSD $60,000: On Friday, December 21st, Camden Elementary, Camden Middle, and Camden High School were each presented with a check for $20,000 to use towards literacy initiatives.  On hand from Dollar General to present the donation were Matt Abernathy, Regional Director, Jason Brink, District Manager, Mindy Robiner-Kling, Canastota Dollar General, Heather Conway, Constantia Dollar General, and Julie Hinman, Taberg Dollar General.

Camden Character Education Assembly Camden Character Education Assembly: On Friday, December 7, Camden Middle School held their first Character Education Assembly of the school year.  At the assembly, 78 students from grades 5-8 were recognized for displaying the character traits of respect and kindness.  Students received a certificate and an "In Camden Character Counts" T-Shirt.  Over 100 parents and guardians attended the assembly and were treated to muffins baked by the students and parent volunteers.  Congratulations to all students that were recognized! CCSD Annual Shop with a Cop-Fun for All! CCSD Annual Shop with a Cop-Fun for All!: On Thursday, December 6th, Police Officers from several organizations including Oneida and Lewis County Sheriffs, New York State Police, and the Camden Police Department, accompanied students from the Camden CCSD while they shopped.  Each student was given $100 for shopping.   Click here for a video clip of the event on wktv.
McConnellsville Fourth Grade Students Learn Broadcasting Skills! McConnellsville Fourth Grade Students Learn Broadcasting Skills!: Miss Light's fourth grade students at McConnellsville Elementary School have been researching famous inventors. After completing their research, students wrote scripts using the information they found.  Students then used iPads with the green screen app to make presentations. Students had to make the actual green screen and use the app to make different backgrounds appear just like it is done on the nightly news!
CHS National Honor Society Inductions CHS National Honor Society Inductions: On Wednesday, November 28, 2018, the Camden Chapter of the National Honor Society inducted 54 new members.  The Chapter also inducted an Honary Member from the community, Ms. Jillian Felt. National Junior Honor Society Veterans Day Project National Junior Honor Society Veterans Day Project: The eighth grade members of National Junior Honor Society chose to create a giant flag for their Veterans Day project this year. They worked together during  NJHS meetings, guided study time, and 10th periods in order to complete the project in time for Veterans Day. They were excited to honor others and to give back to their school by creating this flag to display in the foyer of CMS.
Camden Junior Prom Camden Junior Prom: On Saturday, November 10th, Camden Senior High School held the Junior Prom.  The march was held in the auditorium followed by dinner and dancing at Nicole's.   Click here to view photos from the march.
Fourth Grade Students Practice Coding Fourth Grade Students Practice Coding: Once a week, before school, 11 dedicated McConnellsville fourth graders are taking part in the Wonder Workshop Robotics Competition!  These students use the Dash and Dot robots to work through national missions that were published in October. Here is a sample of a successful mission.  The goal was to travel through all 8 stars on the grid in order. Students used the coding app Blockly to perform the task.   
The Golden Ticket Could Be Yours at CMS! The Golden Ticket Could Be Yours at CMS!: Camden Middle School's character trait of the month is RESPECT.  Students can earn GOLDEN TICKETS by demonstrating respect to their peers and to the staff at CMS.  Each week we draw four tickets to receive a prize.  Last week Emma Johnson, Tyler Perkins, Natalie Dailey and Joey Abear  were selected.  Great Job!

Camden High School Presents Arsenic and Old Lace this Weekend! Camden High School Presents Arsenic and Old Lace this Weekend!: The Camden High School Theatre Department proudly presents Arsenic and Old Lace , on Friday November 2 nd, and Saturday November 3 rd , curtain at 7 pm both nights. Tickets are $7. Sure to entertain, this is a show you won’t want to miss.      The play Arsenic and Old Lace is a farcical black comedy by Joseph Kesselring. It centers on the Brewster family, descended from the Mayflower settlers of Plymouth Rock fame, and is set in their home’s living room in the borough of Brooklyn, New York City, convincingly brought to the stage by Set Designer Anthony Dombrowski.
