CHS Music Department Presents Newsies!:
The Camden High School music department presented this years Musical, Newsies, on Friday, March 1st and Saturday, March 2nd.
The show was produced by Mrs. Kimberly Bird with Mrs. Heather Serway as musical director. Ms. Dee Dee Knapp Brody lended her choreography expertise with Mr. Dylan Isom assisting with choreography! Mrs. Michaele Morehouse directed the pit of talented high school and community musicians. The costumes were made by Mrs. Sue Teelin and Ms. Diane Lundrigan along with high school students. Mr. Steve Keller is worked hard to design a very unique set and Mrs. Amy Andrews made sure that our set was colorful. "I Don't Care if the Rain Comes Down":
Led by Mr. Jerome, students in Mrs. Runfola’s 3rd Grade class learned to perform “I Don’t Care If The Rain Comes Down” on the xylophone. They worked in groups to decode the note names, learn the music, practice, and decide who would perform each part. Not only did they play well, but they also did an excellent job working together and taking turns.

5th Grade Celebrates 1000th Day of School!:
On Tuesday, February 26th, Mrs. Willson's and Mrs. Shippee's 5th grade math students celebrated their 1000th day of school [(5 x 180) + 100 = 1000] with fun hats, treats, and an Escape Room activity that Mrs. Willson created.

Camden Science Olympiad Heads to States!:
The Regional Science Olympiad Competition was held on Saturday, January 26th at LeMoyne College. Overall, Camden earned a 5th place spot, which qualified them for the State Competition. The State Competition will be held on March 15th and 16th at LeMoyne College. Congratulations and Good Luck!

Camden Boys Bowling Senior Night:

On January 17th the Camden Varsity Wrestling Team took on Whitesboro with a final score win

CMS Holds Annual Spelling Bee:
The 5th Annual Camden Middle School Scripps Spelling Bee was held on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Parents, classmates, friends, and family joined together to cheer on over seventy middle school students in grades 5 - 8 as they competed round after round for over two hours. At the end of the competition, seventh graders Abby Farnsworth and Marley Hilliker tied for third place, seventh grader Lindsay Melancon finished in second, and after spelling the winning word "frippery" correctly, sixth grader Hannah Cere was crowned as this year's CMS Spelling Bee Champion. Congratulations to all students and thank you to everyone involved as well as our sponsors, Mystic Stamp Company and Tops Friendly Market!

CHS Students Compete in CNY Scholastic Art Competition:
Every year, students from Camden High School submit a select number of artworks to the CNY Scholastic Art Competition.
Since 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have recognized the vision, ingenuity, and talent of our nation’s youth, and provided opportunities for creative teens to be celebrated. Through the Awards, students receive opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarships. Students across America submitted more than 330,000 original works last year in 29 different categories of art and writing.

5th Graders go "around the world" to learn about holidays:
On December 20th, several 5th grade homerooms traveled throughout the building to different classrooms. This was part of their annual "Holidays Around the World" event. Each classroom taught the traditions of different country or winter celebrations. Countries of study included Mexico, Germany, France, Holland, and China. A bonus stop discussing the origins of traditional Christmas carols was also included.
CMS Teacher Awarded Grant to Expand Classroom Library:
CMS Teacher Tara Baker was awarded a grant for $500 from Ther Rome Teachers Federal Credit Union to purchase books for her reading classroom library. Books were selected based on a "wish list" created by Mrs. Baker's students.
On December 7th, 2018, Mrs. Baker's students, Mr. Harrington, and Mrs. DerCola participated in a Book Reveal Party to preview and sign out the books. Click here for more pictures of this exciting event!
Dollar General Gives CCSD $60,000:
On Friday, December 21st, Camden Elementary, Camden Middle, and Camden High School were each presented with a check for $20,000 to use towards literacy initiatives. On hand from Dollar General to present the donation were Matt Abernathy, Regional Director, Jason Brink, District Manager, Mindy Robiner-Kling, Canastota Dollar General, Heather Conway, Constantia Dollar General, and Julie Hinman, Taberg Dollar General.
