Girls on the Run! Girls on the Run!: The Camden Elementary Girls on the Run team completed their program by running a 5k race at Onondaga Community College on Friday, June 14th! The 15 third and fourth grade girls ran with friends, family and all the other Girls on the Run teams in the surrounding area! Girls on the Run is a program that inspires girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident while using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running to help girls know and activate their limitless potential. Camden Student Competes in National Track Meet! Camden Student Competes in National Track Meet!: Congratulations to Lizzy Lucason who competed independently at the New Balance National Outdoor Track Meet held in Greensboro, North Carolina.  Her time of 5:00.25 in the mile placed her 20th in the nation. This time also places her as the fourth fastest freshman in the country.  Lizzy went into the race seeded 34th and ran exceptionally well by beating her seed by 14 places. Many thanks to the Camden community for your support of Lizzy and track and field. 
Camden Student Competes in National Spelling Bee Camden Student Competes in National Spelling Bee: Our very own 6th grade student, Hannah Cere, was 1 out of 100 6th graders that attended the 2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee.  Hannah made it round 3. Out of 11 million spellers that started this journey in classrooms all over the country, she was one of 565 spellers that made it to Bee Week. Congratulations Hannah!

Class of 2019 Awarded Over $205,000 Class of 2019 Awarded Over $205,000: On Thursday, June 6th, Camden Senior High School held their annual Class Night to recognize the accomplishments of students in the Class of 2019.  182 awards were given out, totaling over $205,000.  Please click  here  for a slideshow from Class Night. Students Learn About Birds of Prey Students Learn About Birds of Prey: On Tuesday, June 4, Mr. and Mrs. Saltis from the Utica Peregrine Falcon Project visited Mrs. Baker’s classroom. Mrs. Saltis shared a presentation about the endangered Peregrine Falcons in Utica, NY and also brought two very special visitors. Iscah the Red-tailed Hawk and Sandy the Barred Owl are two birds that Mrs. Saltis brought as educational birds. Mrs. Saltis is a trained bird rehabber and currently has seven birds at her home for rehabilitation. Prior to the visit, Mrs. Baker’s students read about Peregrine Falcons and observed the Utica Peregrines and their new baby eyases through live web cams. Rigamajig Fun at McVille! Rigamajig Fun at McVille!: Mrs. DeLosh received a Tuhill grant earlier this year to purchase a Rigamajig to use with her students at McConnellsville Elementary. Her classes have used it several times to do things such as building a "robot" and creating a structure that would allow students to ride on a whale. Students were guided through the engineering design process to help them decide what to do!  Please click  here  to learn more about the students' adventures.

Camden Central School District Named 2019 Organization of the Year! Camden Central School District Named 2019 Organization of the Year!:   The picture above includes anyone affiliated with the school in past or present who attended the Chamber of Commerce Dinner that evening.  Camden Central School District is honored by the Camden Chamber of Commerce as the 2019 Organization of the Year!    Dr. Root, Superintendent of Schools, accepted this award on behalf of both current and prior Boards of Education, Administration, Faculty, Staff and Students.   "It is an honor to serve the Camden community and we will continue the rich tradition of Camden being a community school well into the future," Dr. Root said when accepting the award.  
CHS Band Earns Top Honors CHS Band Earns Top Honors: CONGRATULATIONS!!!! CHS Band earned a 1st Place with a SUPERIOR rating and Best Overall Concert Band at the competition held in Allentown, PA this past Saturday. Schools from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania  were represented.  Great job everyone!

Camden Athletes Give Back Camden Athletes Give Back: Camden Athletes Give Back On Sunday, May 5th, Camden Athletic Director Aaron Fiorini, Coaches and Athletes from Camden Central School District participated in the annual senior yard cleanup for the Camden Community.  There were 51 kids from the Baseball and Track Teams that grabbed their rakes and did their part to give back to their community. CMS Holds Pennies for Patients Campaign CMS Holds Pennies for Patients Campaign: Over the last three weeks, students at Camden Middle School have been raising money for the Pennies for Patients Campaign. The Pennies for Patients campaign directly benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (The LLS).  The LLS mission is to Cure Leukemia, Lymphoma and other blood cancers and improve quality of life of patients and their families.   CMS’s Pennies for Patients campaign,  organized by the 5/6 and 7/8 Student Council, has had a record year! Rallying around our own Mrs Carpenter, currently winning her 3rd battle with Leukemia, we collected money each week throughout the month of March. Camden CSD Honored for Music Program Camden CSD Honored for Music Program:               The Camden Central School District Music Education Program Receives National Recognition For the 4 th consecutive year.      The Camden Central School district has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education.    Now in its 20 th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students. CHS Presents CHS Presents "A Dose of Drama": This past weekend, the Camden High School Theater Department performed "A Dose of Drama."  "A Dose of Drama" is a collection of Camden High School student written stage material.  Performances featured all forms and genres of theater: Plays, dialogues, monologues, romance, drama, comedy, tragedy.   Click here for a slide show of student performances.

5th Grade Makes Maple Syrup! 5th Grade Makes Maple Syrup!:   Mrs. Willson's, Mrs. Shippee's and Ms. Ash's 5th graders have successfully produced their own maple syrup from trees at CMS. Students chose and  tapped the trees, hung buckets, boiled sap, and monitored final bottling. The students are entering their syrup in the NY Agriculture in the Classroom Maple Syrup contest. They also will produce enough to hold a classroom pancake breakfast in celebration of their learning and hard work!
