SSAE Grant at McConnellsville Elementary School
The Camden School District is a co-recipient of a Student Support and Academic Enrichment (SSAE) grant which facilitates after school modules for students in Grades K-8. All modules are taught by Camden faculty. Session 1, which starts in early January, is offered to students in grades 2-8. Session 2, which is offered from March to June, expands the age range of our program to students in grades K-8. Below is a description of what students are learning in Session 1.
Lego Robotics, Jr.
FIRST Lego, Jr. presents a new and exciting challenge to ignite creativity. Each team of up to 6 students will begin the exploration of a real-world theme utilizing the LEGO WeDo2.0 technology. Teams will create, document and present their ideas at an exhibition-style showcase!
McConnellsville Newspaper Club
Calling all potential newspaper reporters! If you are interested in learning the ins and outs of the writing and reporting process then this club is for you! Reporters will be on the “pulse”of the McConnellsville Elementary community, drumming up story ideas from students, teachers and staff. Students will work on their interviewing skills as they dive deep into storytelling. Reporters will publish at least 2 newspapers during this club!
