Read
to Succeed
|
Here’s how it works:
|
A Tally Sheet must be filled
in each time your child reads with the date, what your child read and your initials for each reading
entry. If your child reads when at someone else’s home, then they can
initial the sheet.
If you need Tally Sheets click here and print one, or go to Mrs. Strebel in the Media Center. Tally Sheets are due back March 5 to either your teacher or Mrs. Strebel. If you want to hand in sheets as you finish them that would be fine too. Just remember to keep a tally of how many minutes you have read. Reading to complete homework does not count for the program. However, any other reading – books, magazines, newspapers, North Bay Learning Links, you name it – counts toward the 600 minutes for the club. |
| You can read aloud to your child, your child can read aloud to you, or your child can read alone: It all counts toward the 600 minutes for the club. | |
To achieve a reading schedule totaling 660 minutes in the following month, all your child would have to read is 20 minutes each week day and 30 minutes on Saturdays and Sundays. If your child wants to get ahead or make up for any lost reading minutes, there will be plenty of time during our Winter Recess from February 16 to February 24. At that time, your child might want to read for a half-hour in the morning and a half-hour at night. That would be an easy way to gain extra time.
