Br'er Rabbit in Love
| Nancy Sanders, master puppeteer, presented Br'er Rabbit in Love to wildly receptive audiences at North Bay. Ms. Sanders explained that the story was an adaptation of an Uncle Remus tale by Joel Chandler Harris. In the tales, Uncle Remus, an elderly black farm worker and ex-slave, tells stories about animals such as Br'er Rabbit, Br'er Fox, Br'er Wolf and Br'er Terry Pants. Br'er is slave dialect for brother. In this story, Br'er Rabbit falls in love but he finds his love is in love with others. So he must get objects from his arch enemies so his love will love him back. As the children watched the play, Ms. Sanders would ask them to help Br'er Rabbit. The happy screams and laughs of the enthusiastic students could be heard throughout the school. |
Great job, Ms. Sanders!!
