Mrs. Platt's Newsletter

Here are the highlights:

1. Student Planner month is going well. Almost every planner is signed each day, and the assignments are done on time. Thank you!

2. The last Weekly Behavior Sheet went home today. Please sign and return it on Monday. Look in the Planner daily to see how your child behaved each day. If you find your child is not recording this information on a daily basis, you should tell her you expect it written down, and make sure you check it.

3. The desert unit is wrapping up nicely. A test will be given soon.

4. We begin learning about rain forests on Monday.

5. The spelling list is attached.

6. All children need to read a minimum of 6 points each marking period. Is your child reading each night from a chapter book AND taking tests in order to earn the points??? The marking period ends at the end of this month.

7. Pencils are a problem! Most of the class has trouble keeping track of their pencils, and are unprepared for school as a result. I will keep their pencils at my desk if they ask me to, but many don't even have a pencil that is longer than 3 inches, and many have no eraser. Please see what you can do to supply your child with these items.

8. The Student Council is collecting Box Tops and Pennies. We are winning right now!!! Send in whatever you can.

9. If you do not have a world map hanging in your child's bedroom, or somewhere in your house, please try to get one. That is the thrust of our social studies curriculum, and they could use the review at home. A map of the USA is necessary also.

10. I am not sending home math calendars now. I encourage you to continue to have your child study at home in an effort to become stronger in math.

Enjoy the weekend, and sign the Planner!
