(Camden, 10/6) – Camden High School is pleased to announce that 3 students have been selected to the 2016 New York State School Music Association’s Winter Conference. They will participate in concerts held at the acclaimed Eastman Theatre in Rochester, NY during the Conference to be held from December 1 - 4, 2016.
Jack Smith has been selected for the symphonic band and has been performing throughout his high school career in Camden both in school groups and community ventures. He studies privately on percussion, and drum set, and has been involved in jazz, concert band, orchestra, choir, select vocal groups, all county ensembles, musicals, area all state groups, and many other specialty performing groups for the past 4 years. Jack will be pursuing a career in music after high school.
Cassandra Dolan has been selected for Mixed Choir and has been performing for over 12 years. She has studied privately and has been involved in over 20 musicals, select vocal ensembles in school, as well as many community music groups, and summer college ensembles for about 8 years. This past summer she also went to Crane Youth Music camp at SUNY Potsdam Crane College.
Sierra Scott has been selected for Mixed Choir and has been performing throughout her high school career. She has been involved in mixed choir, select vocal ensembles, all-state ensembles, all county ensembles and various bands in the community since sixth grade.

Over 150 students from the Camden Central school district participated in the NYSSMA solo festival in 2016. Camden music students are very active in regional and local performing groups, and the community has been designated as a “Best Community for Music Education” by the NAMM foundation in 2016.
