Therapy Dogs Visit High School

On Tuesday, June 13th Camden High School students were treated to a little bit of puppy love to help them “de-stress” from the end of the year exams.

Camden High School Counselor Barb Cittadino and her dog Noel are a registered therapy team through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs national organization and they volunteer at local nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and college campuses through the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County.

She, along with her husband and another member of the Cornell Companions of Oneida County Dog Therapy Group brought their therapy dogs to the high school Tuthill Learning Commons to share their well-mannered and gentle dogs with the students who thought spending some quality time with the dogs was just the thing to brighten their day. The petting of soft fur and doggy snuggles have a well-known calming effect on most people, and Comet and Noel, two pint-sized Shih Tzu dogs, along with Sancha, the Portuguese Water Dog, were well received by the students….as you can see by the pictures.
