I read all of the time! As soon as I finish a book, I write a page or two about it in my "Reading Journal" at home, then start a new one! I belong to a book club containing many of my favorite high school English teachers! When I'm not reading for my book club, I am reading as many of the books in our McConnellsville Elementary Library. I really enjoy being able to recommend books to our students based on their personalities and tastes. Nothing gives me more pleasure than to recommend a book and have the student love it!! Of course, each recommendation is backed up with the phrase "If you don't like it does NOT hurt my feelings!" I never want a student to be embarrassed about returning a book they cannot connect with.
I have 3 boys of my own, and we have begun a quest to read all of the Newbery Medal books together (okay, so it is MY quest that I have imposed upon them ... when your mother is a librarian, you get exposed to many kinds of books!) We have been reading several of them and been pleasantly surprised. We read together EACH and EVERY night, not just during PARP week!
