Blue Devils Volleyball

While all good things do eventually come to an end, the Camden girls’ varsity volleyball team has many reasons to emphasize the word “good” this season. The Blue Devils recently wrapped up a historic year in the Section III Class B Semifinals, and showed sizable improvement along the way.

The Blue Devils won their first match of the season on Monday, December 5th. That was the starting point for a great year in which Camden took their game to a new level. From a three-win season in the 2021-22 campaign, Camden rattled off nine more wins this season for an overall record of 12-9, and did so under first year head coach Katherine Migliori.

On Saturday, January 28th, the Blue Devils won a doubleheader match to go over the .500 mark for the first time in the season, it also sparked a six match winning streak that ran through February 4th. League wins over Oneida and VVS were key in helping the Blue Devils clinch their first TVL division title since 2002, with the Blue Devils securing the title in a match against VVS.

Camden would meet VVS again at home as the Blue Devils hosted a Section III quarterfinal match, which they won 3-1. The Blue Devils bowed out in extra points during a five-set loss to Syracuse CBA in the semifinals.

Hailey Gladle and Brooke Musch each ended the season with over 150 kills to lead the Camden attack. Julia Holmes logged over 250 assists. Leah Runion ended the year with 185 digs on the defensive end. Devyn Dewan, Hailey Gladle, and Julia Holmes led the Blue and White in the service game with 50 service aces or more.

The Blue Devils now look forward to an impressive future, as they graduate just four seniors off the varsity. Three starting sophomores, and two starters from the junior class return next year.
