Connor Dean NYSSWA All-State

CAMDEN, NY - For a second straight year, Camden High School senior Connor Dean has earned all-state honors on the gridiron. The two-way football star for the Blue Devils was named to the 2022 New York State Sportswriters’ Association All-State teams released earlier this week.

Dean was selected to the third team defense in Class B for his play at defensive back. He was one of seventeen players selected from a highly competitive group of Section III Class B schools, and the only player from Oneida County to be named to the Class B teams this season.

While facing tough competition throughout the year, Dean helped lead the Blue Devils to a memorable 7-2 record and a spot in the Section III Class B Semifinals. On defense, Dean was a sure tackler in run support, and was outstanding in coverage as well.

On offense, Dean continued to excel as the team’s signal-caller. He threw fourteen touchdown passes while rushing for nine touchdowns. He was also credited with three scores as a receiver.

He was previously chosen as an all-state quarterback on the third team in 2021.

In addition to all-state honors, Dean won a number of additional honors this season. He was chosen to Syracuse.com’s Small School All-CNY team alongside offensive lineman Gavin Kuc, and was one of eighteen Blue Devils chosen to the Section III Class B Northeast All-Star teams in 2022. He was accompanied on that list by Noah Morse, Gavin Kuc, Lyle Walker, Ryan Beaulac, Gavin Kuc, Joshua Salsman, Trey Kimball, Isaac Lynch, Brian Gonzalez, Jeff Flatt, Josh Plumley, Tyler Spencer, Joe Doran, Hayden Johnson, Carson Kimmel, Trey O’Rourke, and Sean Seymore.

Dean is also a member of the boys’ basketball team, and is a star sprinter and jumper on the track and field team.
