Get to Know Miss Haggerty, School Social Worker

Hi There!

I am Miss Haggerty and I am the School Social Worker here at McConnellsville Elementary. I make up one third of the awesome Mental Health Team in our amazing building. I have had the pleasure of working for the Camden School District for 15 years, all of which have been spent here at McVille. When I'm not in school, you can find me spending time with my family, getting lost in a good book or binge watching a good show!

What is my role in school?

I provide individual and/or group counseling to students (parents are contacted for permission when counseling services are recommended).

Going into classrooms and teaching lessons about emotions, bullying and personal safety and how to strengthen our social-emotional intelligence.

Collaborating with our Connected Community Schools liaison, Tayler Galusha to help connect our families to outside of school resources.

Working with our school staff to help ensure our students are working to the best of their abilities.

This year I will be providing support to students in Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st grade and one 2nd grade classroom.

Get to Know Mrs. Meislin, School Psychologist

Hello!

I’m Mrs. Meislin and I’m new, (and excited), to be part of the McConnellsville Mental Health Team. I completed my college hours within the Camden School District so I’ve been around some of our incredible families since 2019. From 2014-2021 I was lucky enough to gain experience working with people with disabilities through OPWDD which sparked a love for matching services with needs. Outside of school, I love to draw, paint, and spend time with my pets.

What is my role in the school?

I work collaboratively with students, their families, and their teachers to create goals that match a student’s needs whether they’re social-emotional, behavioral, or academic in nature.

I conduct research on evidence-based techniques for struggling students to help provide targeted interventions when needed.

I visit students in outside placements and collaborate with mental health teams in other buildings to ensure our students’ needs are being met according to their plans.

I participate in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) meetings and conduct formal evaluations as determined by our team to determine if Special Education supports may be warranted.
