This evening, our Boys Varsity Football team will be traveling to Indian River for what is sure to be an exciting contest as the only two unbeaten teams in the Class B Northeast compete tonight. Throughout the rest of the Fall semester, the Camden Central School District will be spotlighting several new members of our staff. Today, we’d like to introduce you to Shae D’Arcangelis. She is a social worker at Camden Middle School. Shae is a graduate of Nazareth College in Rochester, NY and Oneida High School. Her favorite thing about her position is the rewarding feeling of helping students and families overcome barriers and supporting them through the hard moments that can happen in life. She says a supportive environment has been key to getting comfortable in the early stages of her career with us. “The support I have received has made my transition to Camden seamless,” D’Arcangelis said. “I am excited for the opportunities and staff that I will continue to meet along the way. I am very excited for the new school year along with the years to come!” When she’s not helping our students and families overcome challenges, Shae loves to read, spend time with family and friends, and spoil her golden retriever puppy named Nash. Welcome to our team!

Mrs. McPheron's students are learning how to integrate their ideas through the use of our latest technology acquisition, Promethean Boards. These awesome interactive panels have just arrived in our buildings, and students and staff are just beginning to unlock their potential in the classroom. A representative from the company was on the CHS campus recently to show District staff how to use them as part of our Superintendent's Conference Day program.

Throughout the rest of the Fall Semester, the Camden Central School District will be spotlighting several new members of our staff. Today, we’d like to introduce Allison Leone to you. Miss Leone is in her first year teaching kindergarten at Camden Elementary School. She joins the District after a year in the Madison Central School District. She is a graduate of SUNY Fredonia. Miss Leone’s favorite thing about being an educator is that she can come to school every day and see smiling faces who are eager to learn. Her favorite thing about the Camden experience is that everyone helps and encourages each other. When she’s not bringing another exciting day of learning to her students, Miss Leone loves reading, spending time with friends and family, and going to one of her favorite places, Disney World. Welcome to the team!

As part of a science lesson this week, Mrs. Brazie's 4th grade class at McConnellsville Elementary School learned about how our muscles make our bones move. Students made a 'robotic' finger so that they could see how bones, muscles, tendons and joints work together! Check out the McConnellsville Elementary webpage to see more photos of this experiment!

This afternoon at Camden Middle School, CCSD teachers learned more about a six step lesson plan for targeted ELA instruction with The Reading League!

Principal Ferretti? Or Sheriff Ferretti? We cannot confirm or deny if both have been seen together in the same room, at the same time. Regardless, here is our awesome Camden Elementary School principal celebrating "Country Day" on Thursday at CES!

Here at the Camden Central School District, we believe in the power of peer leadership as part of our professional development program. That leadership was on display this morning, as teacher leader and second grade teacher Sue Holmes facilitated a professional development session about phonics methodology for our teachers from pre-kindergarten to fourth grade. Attending teachers learned more about the Secret Stories phonics method, along with some tips and tricks for teaching students how to pronounce "Red Words" in the Orton-Gillingham method. They are called "Red Words" because a developing student has to generally stop and think before pronouncing them, as they may break phonemic conventions and cannot easily be sounded out phonetically.

It was an Excel-lent start to the day as a group of staff members, including members of our business office team, took the opportunity to refine their excel skills as part of today's Superintendent's Conference Day sessions!
