They say to measure twice, and cut once. While you're at it, make something you can use over and over again.
All of these things are true for students in Camden High School's Materials Processing I classes! They have been designing, constructing, and finishing these cutting boards to take home and put to good use in the kitchen. Along the way, they're mastering valuable woodworking basics that can help in home or business applications!

Two performances today! Free admission! Final day to see the show!
Children are encouraged to come in costume with a special cast trick-or-treat session after the show!

Opening Night is off and running!!!!

Cutting Boards are rolling out of Materials Processing 1 classes. Students designed, constructed, and finished their own boards which they will be taking home this week. Students did a great job as they take another step in building their woodworking skills.

There's no argument here..... It's time to get on with the show!

Students in Miss Archibee's art class took on a little competition for Halloween! Each student was given 1oz. of white model magic to transform into a spooky sculpture. Guest judges came in all day to pick their favorite masterpiece. Winners received a chocolate bar and photo op to showcase their talent!
After seeing these, we're REALLY looking forward to seeing what kind of sculpture work we see at the district art show this spring!

If the cast of Emily Bronte: Teenage Ghost Hunter is looking for their ghostly culprits, we think we found them!
Happy Halloween from the ghosts of the CHS Social Studies Department!

It’s show week! And our Camden High School Drama Club students are starting final preparations to bring you an entertaining tale that fits the holiday occasion, Emily Brontë: Teenage Ghost Hunter!
There will be three opportunities to attend the show. Opening night will be on Friday, November 1st at 7 PM. On Saturday, November 2nd, there will be a matinee at 2 PM, and a final performance at 7:30 PM. All performances will be held in the Camden High School Auditorium, and admission is free.
As an added bonus, children are encouraged to come in their Halloween costume, and can participate in a special Trick-or-Treat session with members of the cast after the show!
Emily Brontë: Teenage Ghost Hunter is a family-friendly horror comedy written by acclaimed scholastic playwright Don Zioldis. The story brings you to Northern England, where a reckless and frightening phantom is haunting the Roe Head School for Girls, sending the school - and its students - into disarray. If something isn’t done about the phantom soon, the school may have to close its doors.
Luckily, star student Emily Brontë, and sisters Anne and Charlotte are on the case, and as it turns out, the Roe Head School for Girls sits at the intersection of thrills and laughter, even with a phantom on the loose.
The trio use their unique abilities, and the help of a whimsical cast of characters, to investigate the abnormal happenings and hopefully, save their school. And when we say a whimsical cast of characters, we mean it. On the way to the truth, you’ll encounter an undead goose, a lovesick ghost, and a totally and completely normal talking meat pudding.
This riveting gothic-themed adventure is overflowing with humor, magic, and memorable moments that will resonate for years to come.
Whether you love classic English literature, a good spooky tale, a good laugh, or great theater, you’ll find it all at Camden High School this weekend! We’ll see you there!

Students were making a visual Bohr Model of a variety of atoms this morning in Mrs. Libertella's chemistry class. This particular one is for zirconium!

NATIONAL SCHOOL BUS SAFETY WEEK
As we replace portions of our transportation fleet on an ongoing basis, it’s important that the safety equipment on our new vehicle acquisitions is up to the task of keeping our kids safe.
Very recently, we took delivery of four new school buses equipped with modernized internal and external camera systems.
Negative behavior on buses has the ability to detract from a driver’s focus, which can increase risk for everyone on the bus. The new internal camera systems will equip our District with more tools to help manage and address incidents on buses. They have a comprehensive range of angles that can look into virtually all areas of the bus, including into seats from above, and offer vastly improved visual and audio clarity over existing systems. The internal cameras also have night-vision capability for coverage in the evening and early morning hours.
The buses also feature multiple external cameras with sensors that can detect and record school bus passing violations. In the event of a potential violation, the system creates an on-the-spot evidence package of still images, videos, and GPS coordinates that can be quickly and easily turned over to law enforcement so that a citation can be issued to the owner of the passing vehicle.
These citations carry significant fines. According to the Department of Motor Vehicles, under the law, the fine for passing a school bus ranges from $250 for a first violation, to a maximum of $1,000 for three violations in three years. Additionally, if a vehicle owner is convicted of three violations in three years, their driver’s license can be revoked for a minimum of six months.
Automated systems just like these have been implemented on buses all over Oneida County. In the 2023-24 school year, over 850 citations were issued by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office across eight different school districts with stop arm camera implementation.
The addition of these internal and external cameras is an important step, but it is also just one step along the way toward modernizing the fleet with new safety technology. A wider implementation is planned, including the addition of these camera systems on new bus purchases. We are also looking at other opportunities to enhance safety, security, and peace of mind for our families when it comes to transportation.

On Wednesday, Camden High School students came together to give the gift of life by donating blood through the American Red Cross Fall Blood Drive! 23 students stepped up to offer generous blood donations. Be on the lookout for another one this spring!
