The Camden Middle School Marching Band kicked off its 2023 parade season on Friday at the Oneida Memorial Day Parade. Led by teachers Jennifer Chase, Joseph Perrotta, and Teresa Stowell-Hollis, the CMS marching band is made up of students in grades 5-10. They began meeting in April to prepare for their performance schedule.
The group was looking as sharp as ever due to the generosity of the Camden community. The band would like to thank the Tuthill Grant committee for approving a request to acquire new uniform shirts and shorts for the group. Through a fundraiser held in March, the band also received new guard flags, some needed pairs of marching shoes, and other needed accessories. Several parents donated goods or time to make that fundraiser a reality.
If you would love to see the band in action, mark your calendar for the following upcoming dates. The band’s next performance will be on Saturday, June 3rd at the Chittenango “Oz-Stravaganza” parade. That parade steps off at 2 p.m. On Sunday, June 11th, the band will perform for some all-time greats of “The Sweet Science” and several other prominent guests as part of the Boxing Hall of Fame parade in Canastota. That parade begins at noon.
