CAMDEN, NY - 29 students from the Camden Central School District music department had the exciting honor of representing their school and community at the 2024 Madison County Music Educators’ Association Winter All-County Festival held on January 19th and January 20th. The host site of this year’s festival was Stockbridge Valley Central School in Munnsville.
This remarkable opportunity brings together select ensembles composed of students from Madison County, and Western Oneida County for the opportunity to collaborate with their peers from around the region and put on a performance with them.
The Association’s membership includes Brookfield, Camden, Canastota, Cazenovia, Chittenango, DeRuyter, Hamilton, Holy Cross, Madison, Morrisville-Eaton, Oneida, Stockbridge Valley, and Vernon Verona Sherrill.
Students are typically selected through a highly competitive audition process. This process includes performing a selected musical work that can be prepared ahead of time, along with a sight reading exercise. Each student’s work is evaluated by highly qualified and accomplished adjudicators.
Selected musicians begin preparing their music at home and school before starting combined rehearsals at the Festival. Students work with their peers, and with special guest conductors.
One of this year’s guest conductors has a Camden Central School District connection. Mr. Nick Anderalli, a music teacher in Oneida, is the husband of McConnellsvillle counselor Mrs. Janine Anderalli. He directed the 7th and 8th grade band.
The following students were selected for this year’s Winter Festival. Additional ensembles will perform in the Spring.
