On Tuesday, June 24th, the Camden Middle School eighth grade class of 2025 marked the end of one four-year chapter, and the start of another. Over 150 students took to the stage to receive their certificate of completion at the school’s annual Moving Up Day ceremony.
The occasion was marked in a multitude of ways. Students Sophia Donaldson and Max Scholz were chosen as the student keynote speakers, and reflected on their paths through middle school. Kenleigh Van Winkle carried on the new tradition of reading an original poem to her classmates at the ceremony. For her address, Principal Brittany DerCola read from the book “Be You!” by Peter Reynolds, and expanded on the lessons it offers in personal growth and authenticity.
A familiar face was also on hand to welcome students to the next step - Camden High School principal Aaron Fiorini. Prior to his current role, Fiorini worked with the graduates for their first three years of middle school as Assistant Principal.
The morning ceremony also featured awards such as the Triple C Award and Presidential Awards, along with the A-Pass awards given for spending one or more years of middle school on the High Honor Roll.
