On Thursday, May 14th, McConnellsville Elementary Fourth Grade Students had a great time on an excursion to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo! The rain held off, and they all learned so much about animal habitats and conservation efforts!

Please join us in congratulating our awesome CCSD Art Department on another successful District Art Show!

In May, the "Let's Play" two-year-old program will once again have two sessions, to be held on Tuesday, May 12th, and Thursday, May 13th. Each session will begin at 10 AM.
Offered in partnership with Family School Navigation (Formerly Ready 4 Kindergarten), the “Let’s Play” program is a free monthly program for two-year-olds and their families. It consists of a monthly one-hour block of play-based learning and socialization with parent/guardian involvement. It is offered with the aim of progressing into the “Look at Me, I’m Three!” program for the following year, and creating a two year skill development on-ramp into Pre-K programming.
To be eligible for this program, a student must reside in the Camden Central School District, and must have reached the age of two on or before December 1st, 2025.
RSVPs are required each month. Spots are limited, and will be on a first-contact, first-serve basis. Early RSVPs are also more likely to get their preferred day to attend. To reserve your spot, or if you have questions, contact our Family School Navigator, Patti Ferretti, at 315-245-2616, extension 5200, or at pferretti@camdencsd.org.

Our principals help create a "World Wide Web" of opportunities for our students! Happy National Principals' Day!

Mrs. Malenowski won a grant earlier in the school year for a set of Bee-Bot robots. They arrived yesterday, so her 3rd grade IFA Reading Group tried them out! The class had just finished reading the book Hello, Universe by Erin Entrada Kelly, so they programmed their robots to three different locations in the book. They were so engaged with the project, and it was a wonderful way to interact with the new addition to the McConnellsville library!

Today was Autism Awareness Day at McConnellsville! The Third Grade Book Club is wearing blue to celebrate and invited the rest of the school to participate. The students have been reading A Boy Called Bat by Elana K. Arnold and have been learning about autism due to the main character Bat being on the spectrum. They have posted autism awareness posters throughout the school and have been making daily morning announcements.

On Friday, April 24th, McConnellsville celebrated the character trait of perseverance, and students that exhibit this important trait, at its monthly character assembly. The occasion included the presentation of certificates, the recognition of students achieving perfect attendance, and of course, the staff post-it note "Shake it Off" contest, which served as a perfect demonstration of perseverance.
It also included a very special announcement, which we will tell you more about tomorrow morning......

Students in Mrs. Malenowski's third grade reaading group were treated to a visit by 6th grade science teacher Mrs. Lapier and her guinea pig friends Max and Rocky today. The group had been researching guinea pig facts for their book Hello Universe.

Students in Mrs. Malenowski's fourth grade reading group were given an empty tissue box today and instructed to turn it into their favorite character from the book they just finished: Eyes and the Impossible by Dave Eggers. There were some pretty creative results!

April's elementary-level character trait is PERSEVERANCE. Student Council made some colorful posters to teach students about this trait, and they also made launched this month's Attendance Initiative theme, "Let's Make a Rainbow!" The McConnellsville Elementary School community met its attendance goal twice in as many days to start the month! Let's keep it going!
