Students in Mrs. Malenowski's third grade reaading group were treated to a visit by 6th grade science teacher Mrs. Lapier and her guinea pig friends Max and Rocky today. The group had been researching guinea pig facts for their book Hello Universe.

Students in Mrs. Malenowski's fourth grade reading group were given an empty tissue box today and instructed to turn it into their favorite character from the book they just finished: Eyes and the Impossible by Dave Eggers. There were some pretty creative results!

April's elementary-level character trait is PERSEVERANCE. Student Council made some colorful posters to teach students about this trait, and they also made launched this month's Attendance Initiative theme, "Let's Make a Rainbow!" The McConnellsville Elementary School community met its attendance goal twice in as many days to start the month! Let's keep it going!

The April meeting of "Look at Me, I'm Three" is set for Wednesday, April 15th at 5:30 PM and will be held at Camden Elementary School!

This program is a free monthly Pre-K prep program for students eligible to enroll in Pre-K for the 2026-2027 school year.

To participate, a child must have reached the age of three years old on or before December 1st, 2025.
The program runs for approximately 45 minutes , and includes a reading activity, craft activity, snack, and more.

This is one bracket that's always perfect. McConnellsville Elementary School has been working through a March Picture Book Madness tournament, with advancing books voted on by students.

We're down to just two books left standing! The competition has been fierce, but only one picture book will be crowned champion. Who will it be? Staff and students will find out the answer very soon.

Offered in partnership with Family School Navigation (Formerly Ready 4 Kindergarten), the “Let’s Play” program is a free monthly program for two-year-olds and their families. It consists of a monthly one-hour block of play-based learning and socialization with parent/guardian involvement. It is offered with the aim of progressing into the “Look at Me, I’m Three!” program for the following year, and creating a two year skill development on-ramp into Pre-K programming.

To be eligible for this program, a student must reside in the Camden Central School District, and must have reached the age of two on or before December 1st, 2025.
