Welcome home, “Brookies!” Mrs. Turner, Mrs. Wilcox, and Mrs. Lapier’s classrooms are now the home to 600 Brook Trout eggs. Each classroom hatchery will provide students with the opportunity to raise the trout from egg to fry. The program culminates with a fish release into Mad River this spring. This is year is CMS’s 9th year of working with Trout Unlimited and Fish Creek Atlantic Salmon Club! Students will work with the club throughout the school year and learn about stream health, fish anatomy, tank/stream chemistry, local habitat and watershed, and much more! Thank you to our “fish friends” at Trout Unlimited and Fish Creek Atlantic Salmon Club for your continued support!

Did you know the CMS Agriculture program has a bunny? Fawn is the four legged friend that lives in the agriculture classroom. Fawn is used as an emotional support for students needing a friend and is also a great resource for students to learn from. Sometimes Fawn also takes field trips in her stroller to other classrooms to bring love and joy to those students and staff in need.

As the first 10 weeks comes to an end with the first round of 7th and 8th graders for marking period 1 agriculture, it was time to learn about the food we eat! The students spent a day making overnight pickles for their class and are taste testing those pickles for the last week. The students were even kind enough to make extra to donate to faculty and staff of CMS. We hope some of our students teach their families about what they have learned and make some pickles together!
