The Connected Community Schools HUB Club at Camden Middle School recently made some candy houses!
Hey HGTV, call us up! We know a few future celebrity builders!

Within the agriculture elective called "Agriculture Explorations" students are able to complete and learn from projects that interest them. One student is learning about ecosystems. This student finally had the chance to put live worms in his ecosystem thanks to Mrs. Wilson's worm bin! Come to find out this student was scared to death of worms. This student got over his fear by being pushed out of his comfort zone and now is able to watch the live creatures work in his live terrarium!

For "Chick Week" the agriculture program wants to make sure everyone is involved including our other furry friends. Jelly the classroom Guinea Pig made a pit stop at the main office today to spread chick love in her chick costume! Jelly brought loads of laughter and smiles into the main office!

Attention all CES, CMS, and MES Families! Join us for our district-wide Title One Reading Extravaganza on Wednesday, April 5th! See the flyer below for more information!

It's "Chick Week!" Students will be spending every day this week learning the in's and out's of the poultry industry. Students are learning from hands on experiences and virtual opportunities! The agriculture classroom has lots to "chick-out!"

Mrs. Johnson's fifth-grade reading class made a leprechaun and a rainbow-filled pot of gold! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

What is yellow or orange and has 100 petals? MARIGOLDS! Students in the agricultural elective learned the history and uses of marigolds today. Students even had the opportunity to grow their own marigolds to hopefully take home later in the year!

It's "Sap Season" folks! Today Mrs. Willson prepared an engaging lesson about where maple syrup comes for the agricultural elective. Willson also gave the students an opportunity to taste test real syrup vs fake syrup. Students were surprised by the ingredient difference between real and fake syrup!

Good Afternoon,
Due to the anticipated poor weather conditions this evening, our Grade 5 Music in Our Schools Month Concert has been rescheduled for Monday, March 20th at 7:00pm.

One opportunity students have when being in FFA is the opportunity to participate in Career Development Events (CDE). Today students learned one of the many aspects of the event, floral nomenclature. Students identified 20 various flowers and learned that not every flower is a "tulip."

The newest addition to the agriculture classroom is slower than most. Three snails have been added to the agriculture classrooms aquaponic system as part of one students special project. The special project is observing how live aquatic ecosystems can make plants thrive.

Twenty-nine 8th grade students at Camden Middle School were inducted into National Junior Honor Society on Wednesday, March 8. Highlights of the evening included a candlelight ceremony, a slideshow honoring the new members, and special music selections performed by CMS's jazz band and orchestra members. Congratulations to all of our CMS NJHS members!

There was quite the "BUZZ" in the agriculture classroom during 8th and 9th period today! CCE Agriculture Educator Colleen McEwen educated the agriculture elective students about bees today. Students now know how honey gets from the hive to the jar and what delicious honey tastes like.

On Friday the Agriculture Elective learned to use rose petals in a new way. Students worked creatively to make drawings come to life with dried rose petals of all colors.

There is never a dull moment in the agriculture room! This 20 weeks one of the Agricultural electives is based on students preferences. One student has decided to grow "Loofahs" in the aeroponic systems. After just 1 week the Loofahs are off to a running start. More to come!

The Animal Science elective has taken advantage of the nice weather the past two days! Students have taken the class pets on walks around the middle school. The animals enjoy the fresh air and the students enjoy the exercise!
