This amazing group of 4th graders came in early to school to create a special mural with Miss Lis this past week. They did a great job working together to create a beautiful and creative work of art for the school. Great job!

Students are visiting the Book Swap during their library classes this week. Many have brought in books from home to exchange, but ALL students have received https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/camden_central_school_district_ar/live_feed_image/image/17140047/large_10_June_-_Book_Swap_6.jpgbooks to read over the summer!

Some of the best teachers make an impact on generations of students, and this photograph, taken this morning, says it all.
Our own Sarah Fannin passed this along. She had Mrs. Sue Holmes as a teacher growing up, and now her daughter, Delilah, has had the same opportunity. Sue is retiring at the end of the school year after 33 incredible years with us, so there was no time like the present to get this picture.

Just a reminder as Summer arrives that we will once again offer the USDA Summer Food Service Program this year!

Across band, chorus, and orchestra, our McConnellsville Elementary fourth grade students put on a show to remember tonight!

On Friday, Pre-K students were treated to a fun and interactive theater performance with representatives from Syracuse Stage!

Join us on Thursday evening at McConnellsville for our 2025 Pre-K Graduation Ceremonies! There are two ceremonies paired by class, and all are on the same evening this year. In an exciting twist, this will be the first group to have its ceremony in the new McVille Gym/Auditorium space!

On Friday, May 30th, our third graders put their best foot forward at their annual district-wide track meet!
While many students represent the community in youth sports, this is one of the first opportunities that our students get to represent their school in competition. Good effort and good sportsmanship are paramount to a successful event. We look forward to seeing how much they've grown when they come together for the fourth grade meet next year!

Recently, the Camden Central School District was pleased to hold its annual "Summer Reading Book Fairs" at Camden Middle School, McConnellsville Elementary, and Camden Elementary. This special event, held during the school day, gave each student a credit to spend on discounted books for their summer reading endeavors. Students have the opportunity to pick up books that fit their interests in hopes that it will drive greater engagement in reading, and it also provides important access to books to have at home for all students, regardless of circumstances.
This opportunity is made possible through the support of the Tuthill Foundation Grant, and the continued generosity of the late Virginia and Stedman Tuthill. The Tuthills were longtime Camden residents who were firm supporters of students, educators, and libraries.
After Stedman passed away in 1993, a grant was set up in the family name to support initiatives of the Camden Central School District, and the Camden Public Library. Virginia was a board member of the library for many years and cherished creating literacy opportunities for children. She passed away in 2014 at the remarkable age of 102. The couple's legacy lives on through initiatives such as this book fair, which has now benefited generations of students.

Thanks to the amazing generosity of Mrs. Virginia Tuthill, every student at McConnellsville was able to pick out books for summer reading at the special Book Fair this past week!!

June's character trait is LOVE OF LEARNING. This week, Student Council is sharing the famous quote by Dr. Seuss: "The more that you READ, the more things you'll KNOW. The more that you LEARN, the more places you'll GO!"

McConnellsville Elementary School had a great morning recognizing its "Bobcats With Character" award winners for May! This month's character trait was Integrity!

At the end of Wednesday morning's festivities, we got our fourth grade winners from each school together, along with team photos from Camden and McConnellsville! After a day of spirited competition, the bar has been set high (pun intended) for our third graders on Friday!

On Wednesday, fourth graders from both elementary schools came together to compete as part of the annual Camden Central School District fourth grade track meet! The event is always a highlight of the year, especially for this group as they prepare to become one Blue Devil family at Camden Middle School this fall!
Students strived to do their best while representing their school in six individual track events, five field events, and an exciting mixed 4x100 meter relay. Along the way, the competitors also learned how much they've grown since their third grade meet a year ago!

The CCSD Third Grade Track and Field Meet scheduled for Thursday morning has been postponed to its rain date, Friday 5/30 (Tomorrow).
The start time remains 9:15 AM on the new date.
This change does not affect today's Section III Championship Meet at CHS.
