On the 100th Day of School, every one of these McConnellsville Elementary Students and staff members was in their senior year..... At least for one day!

At McConnellsville, Miss Wood's kindergartners made sure to give 100 percent on the 100th day! They stacked 100 cups, counted out 100 pieces of snacks in groups of 10 on a grid, and like many of their other friends around the building, they also looked the part by dressing as if they were 100 years old!

Our school voted and we predicted that the KANSAS CITY CHIEFS will be the winner!

Happy 100th Day of School from the Camden Central School District!

Any day where you get to hang out with your grandmother at recess is a pretty good day.

Billy Miller, the main character of our "One District, One Book" selection for 2024, is a 2nd grader. So McConnellsville staff brought in some 2nd grade pictures of their own!
How many staff members can you guess?

Ask your student if they have been the "I" in "KIND" yet! February's character trait is KINDNESS, so we are signing the letters and standing where the "I" should be.

Celebrate Mid Winter spirit week with us! The festivities begin Friday with Super Sports Day!

As a friendly reminder, the Early Registration window for 2024-25 Pre-K and Kindergarten continues until March 8th.
More details are in the attached image, and at https://www.camdenschools.org/article/1393921. That link will also get you the forms you need if you wish to print them yourself.

Our elementary readers are on to Part 4 in our One District, One Book Initiative! Test your knowledge with this recent Camden Elementary School trivia question!

In art class with Miss Lis, 3rd graders finished painting their Chihuly Blooming Flowers inspired pinch pots. Great job, 3rd graders!

In art class with Miss Lis, Kindergarteners from Miss Fasulo’s class filled the hallways with happy hearts inspired by artist Chris Uphues. Great job, kindergarten!

Students in Mrs. Malenowski's second grade IFA reading group finished out learning about Louisiana with a Mardi Gras parade! We marched around the library to "When the Saints Come Marching in" holding these "floats".

Friendly Reminder: If you're interested in the "Before the Bell" program for your elementary student, your registration forms need to be in by Friday, 1/26! Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity.

This week in art class with Miss Lis, 1st graders from Mrs. Wimberly's class used crayons on texture rubbing plates and watercolor paint to create their backgrounds for their Pop Art project. After that, they went on a "gallery walk" around the room to see each others' artwork. Great job, 1st graders!

Want to get an early start on your spring cleaning? The McVille Nurse's Office would love to talk to you about your extra clothes, especially any items your student has outgrown over time. They are very helpful for spills, accidents, etc. If you have any extra clothes to spare, send them in with your student, drop them off at the main office, or reach out to krounds@camdencsd.org.

The Camden Central School District is pleased to announce the launch of its new "Before the Bell" Before School program!
Beginning February 1st, this free program will provide supervision, activities, breakfast, and more before each school day for students attending Camden Elementary and McConnellsville Elementary. A separate program will operate at each building.
The program's daily schedule will start at 7:55 AM, and students will have a chance to eat breakfast before starting school for the day. There will be no program on days where school is closed or delayed.
Registration openings are limited. If you are interested in registering your child for this opportunity, please return the registration form that is coming home with your student no later than Friday, 1/26.
After that form has been returned, the main office of your child's school will contact you to establish if your child has been accepted, or placed on the waitlist if applicable.
If you have questions, or your registration form does not arrive with your student in a timely manner, please contact the main office of your child's school to make arrangements to receive one.

We had a lot of fun hosting our One District, One Book Launch Assemblies at CES and MES. This year's book is "The Year of Billy Miller".
Friday's CES launch featured the debut of a music video you may have seen on this page, Mrs. Platt on rollerblades, and more.
Today's launch at MES featured a staff skit and a video to introduce the book.
And now, we read! The schedule starts tonight with Part 1, Chapter 1. Ideally, try to set a goal to complete the assigned reading schedule on time each weeknight. In addition to our elementary staff and students, members of our support staff and administrative office staff are also going to be reading along with your student!
To help support you and keep your student on track, the staff at each building has developed a web page for the program with the schedule, audio read-alongs from staff, and the daily trivia questions.

Last week in art class with Miss Lis, 3rd graders from Miss Beach’s class learned about clay. Students saw sculptures created by Dale Chihuly and discussed how artwork can be made for beauty and function. As well as, the different places we see art in our lives. Great job, 3rd graders!

Last week in art class with Miss Lis, Miss Fasulo’s kindergarteners finished their warm and cool colored snowmen. They did a great job using watercolor paint and oil pastels safely.
