In art class with Miss Lis, 4th graders from Miss Barber’s class finished up their self-portraits. Students learned about different styles of portraits over many art movements. Students traced a picture of themselves and then created layers of images, colors and words that reflect their identity. Great job, 4th graders!

Friendly Reminder: The McVille PTO will be meeting on Tuesday, March 12th at 4:00 PM.

Congratulations to Violet Robbins for being one of the winners of the American Legion Auxiliary Poppy Poster Contest. There were 37 students who participated from McConnellsville this year. Great job to every student who participated!
Violet has been invited to walk with the Legion in the Memorial Day Parade on May 27th. The parade will start at 9:30 am at the church and will end at Freedom Park on Mexico Street.
Congratulations again to Violet!

This week in art class with Miss Lis, kindergarteners from Miss Wood's class finished their soup artworks inspired by Jasper Johns. Students added some finishing touches to their projects with tempera paint sticks. After that, students analyzed The Marvelous Sauce painting and guessed if the sauce was delicious or not so good from the reaction on the chef's face in the painting. Great job, kindergarteners!

Let's take a moment to acknowledge some of our very special guest stars from last weekend's performances. First, the youth ensembles.
Because of the makeup of the script, the show "Oliver!" provides our elementary and middle school students with a unique chance to be part of the company with the high school students. It's challenging and rewarding at the same time. This group of approximately 35 students had the responsibility to set the tone for the show with the opening number, and they exceeded the standard set before them.
Whether it's in a middle school or high school production, we look forward to seeing all of you on stage again soon!

Join us on Wednesday, March 13th for the March meeting of "Look At Me, I'm Three!". This program is a Pre-K Prep program for students who have turned three years old on or before December 1st, 2023, and will be Pre-K eligible for the Fall.
As part of this program, students and their parents/guardians will have opportunities to interact with District staff, as well as each other, to build a strong learning community throughout the year ahead of starting Pre-K in the Fall!
Make sure to RSVP to Patti Ferretti if you intend to bring your child to this month's meeting. It is helpful for activity planning, and also ensures that your information is on file for Pre-Kindergarten information.

The third grade Wonder Workshop Coding club started today! We had fun learning to drive our Dash robots!

This week in art class with Miss Lis, 1st graders from Miss Schaehfer’s class painted their waves inspired by The Great Wave off Kanagawa. Great job, first graders!

The character trait for March is COURAGE. Student Council made some fantastic posters to hang around the school about the trait!
