McVille Elementary PTO had a great turnout for the Homecoming parade this afternoon !!

Here at the Camden Central School District, we believe in the power of peer leadership as part of our professional development program. That leadership was on display this morning, as teacher leader and second grade teacher Sue Holmes facilitated a professional development session about phonics methodology for our teachers from pre-kindergarten to fourth grade.
Attending teachers learned more about the Secret Stories phonics method, along with some tips and tricks for teaching students how to pronounce "Red Words" in the Orton-Gillingham method. They are called "Red Words" because a developing student has to generally stop and think before pronouncing them, as they may break phonemic conventions and cannot easily be sounded out phonetically.

Our CCSD team is hard at work on professional development activities as part of today's Superintendent's Conference Day, including at Camden High School!
We'll share more photos with you throughout the day!

Saturday (10/8) is parade day! The parade starts promptly at 1 pm. We hope to see as many people as possible out along our village streets as we celebrate our students, alumni, staff, and community!

On Thursday in Science Mrs. Brazie's 4th grade learned about how our muscles make our bones move. Students made a 'robotic' finger so that they could see how bones, muscles, tendons and joints work together. So Cool !!

We saw a lot of fun outfits, hats, and hairdos for Wacky Wednesday at McConnellsville Elementary!
