Thank you to everyone who contributed! We raised $825.19 for the Humane Society of Rome!

Is your plastic recyclable? Look for the chasing arrows that say "Store Drop Off".

A bit of spare change has added up to make a big difference for some local animals seeking a new home. Mrs. Malenowski's third grade IFA reading group at McConnellsville Elementary School is pleased to announce that they have raised an impressive $825.19 from this year's "Pennies for Puppies, Coins for Kitties" initiative!
During this event, the third graders in the group challenge their fellow students to bring in as much spare change from home as possible to support the animals at the Rome Humane Society. This year, the fundraiser ran from October 22nd until November 4th.
While supporting a good cause, the students learn a lot about communication skills, leadership, and setting goals. In this case, the students set an original goal of $350.00, and with the help of their peers, they quickly surged past that number. The group then decided to challenge themselves even further by aiming for more than $750.00, and they smashed that mark as well!
Thanks to all who stepped up to support this effort!

Oliver reminds you that bubble mailers are plastic film! Please send them in to school! Just a few more days left of collecting.

Sisters Daniella and Victoria remind us that all those pellet bags are plastic film and should be recycled!

In honor of Veterans Day, the McConnellsville Student Council has adopted a US Army Platoon, and they are looking for your help! Students have been signing a banner in the library to send to the U.S. Army 1-10th Attack Battalion, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade from the 10th Mountain Division. The unit is based out of Watertown but is currently deployed.
In recognition of their service, the Student Council is seeking Halloween Candy donations to send alongside the banner. Whether you ended up with too much from trick-or-treating last night, have an extra bag you didn't give out last night, or just feel like doing a good deed, it's all welcome!
Contact Shelley Malenowski (smalenowski@camdencsd.org) if you have any questions!

We are so grateful for our partnership with the Oneida County Sherriff's office and lucky to have Officer Paul Russo at MES. He has built a relationship with all of our students and today handed out individually wrapped candy bags to ALL McVille students ! Thanks Officer Paul and Happy Halloween !

We've been working on building a bigger and better McConnellsville Elementary School, so it was only fitting that today, Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Williamson, and Mrs. Rounds dressed up as construction workers! Their outfits featured blue hard hats and custom McConnellsville branded safety vests!

Just a few more days of collecting for Pennies for Puppies/Coins for Kitties! Can you help us reach our new goal of $750?

Your plastic film tip of the day: Rosalyn says that many food bags have the chasing arrows triangle and say "Store Drop Off". Send these in to school!

Mrs. Malenowski's third grade IFA reading group is soaring past their goals for this year's Pennies for Puppies, Coins for Kitties initiative! They have raised the bar on their original goal twice already, and are now up to $633.14 worth of change to donate to the Humane Society of Rome! They're hoping to reach $750.00!
The drive ends on Monday, 11/4!

About a dozen young learners and their families came together for the start of something new this morning as we held our first meeting of the brand new "Let's Play!" Two-Year-Old program! Attendees built skills and socialized through play-based-learning, participated in a craft activity, and had a snack during an action-packed program!
