Mrs. Dacey’s MVCC Business/Personal Law Class recently had another exciting guest speaker as Lewis County District Attorney Jeff Tompkins paid a visit to Camden High School! Tompkins attended on the personal invitation of student Avery Tompkins.
Mr. Tompkins has worked in Oneida County, Lewis County, and Oswego County during his career. He spoke of his indirect career path to becoming an attorney, and the experiences and connections he made throughout his career as a Lawyer that paved the way for him to run for District Attorney in Lewis County. Because of the wide jurisdiction he serves, he has a firsthand understanding of the trends facing the judicial system. He discussed the most common violations in Lewis County include drug offenses & drug related crimes, traffic tickets, domestic violence, and orders of protection. Mr. Tompkins also spoke briefly about some ongoing matters that are playing out in the courts right now.
