The start of summer is a great time to set some new goals! Want to kick off the process and do a fun activity along the way? Join Connected Community Schools for this free event on Wednesday! Contact Val if you have any questions. A good contact number is available in the attached flyer.

Good Morning Blue Devils,
After careful consideration of the conditions, the Camden Central School District will be open on Monday, June 23rd, 2025. All District buildings have power at this time. As a reminder, this is a scheduled half day for Elementary and Middle School students.
We understand that several roads may be impassable for our buses and/or your vehicles at this time. With this in mind, some students may not be able to be picked up today and some bus routes may run noticeably off schedule.
In the event a bus cannot reach you, and you are still capable of bringing your child to school with your own vehicle, you are welcome to do so. If your child is absent because they are unable to be transported to school, it will count as an excused absence for today.
Thank you for your time and consideration as we strive toward a safe opening for staff and students.

Good evening Camden CSD School Community,
We hope everyone is safe and managing through this latest storm. We are monitoring the power outages and road conditions throughout the District. If the situation requires us to close school tomorrow, we will exhaust our snow/emergency days. As stated in our communication from May 23rd, it would become necessary for staff and students to report for an additional half day on Friday, June 27th.
At this time, we are hoping that the conditions will improve and we will be able to hold school tomorrow. We will keep everyone updated as we continue to monitor the conditions throughout the evening. Stay Safe.

Snow cones sure sound good on a day like today! These CES students got some last week during fun day!

Camden Elementary held its annual "Fun Day" on Friday to celebrate the end of a great school year. Students had a wonderful time with a bouncy house, activity stations, lawn games with Connected Community Schools, a hot dog lunch served up by Mr. Ferretti, Snow Cones, and more!

On Friday afternoon, the Camden Elementary School community gathered for an assembly to celebrate Craig Ferretti's 19 years with our District, including his current role as CES Principal.
As he gets set to step into retirement, Craig was celebrated with a video, some special gifts, and some heartfelt words from assistant principal Amanda Mitchell, who is also the incoming principal.
"Thank you for your incredible service, your profound impact, and for being such an extraordinary leader and mentor," Mitchell said. "We wish you a retirement filled with joy, relaxation, and all the happiness you deserve. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will undoubtedly remain with us."

June 13th - From The CES Main Office Via ParentSquare:
Good afternoon,
There is currently a non-student emergency at Camden Elementary School.
This will impact dismissal and pick-up times. Thank you for your patience.

Just a reminder as Summer arrives that we will once again offer the USDA Summer Food Service Program this year!

Connected Community Schools has Open Hub hours scheduled for Wednesday, June 18th. Come and see what the Hub has to offer, and grab some early Summer essentials if you need them. Contact Valarie for more information. A phone number is provided in the flyer!

This week is Mr. Ferretti Spirit Week at CES, as we get ready to bid farewell to our retiring CES Principal.
On Tuesday, it was "Dress Like A Principal" Day, and we were excited to have many Mr. Ferrettis, and a few Mrs. Mitchells walking around our halls!

On Friday, May 30th, our third graders put their best foot forward at their annual district-wide track meet!
While many students represent the community in youth sports, this is one of the first opportunities that our students get to represent their school in competition. Good effort and good sportsmanship are paramount to a successful event. We look forward to seeing how much they've grown when they come together for the fourth grade meet next year!

Recently, the Camden Central School District was pleased to hold its annual "Summer Reading Book Fairs" at Camden Middle School, McConnellsville Elementary, and Camden Elementary. This special event, held during the school day, gave each student a credit to spend on discounted books for their summer reading endeavors. Students have the opportunity to pick up books that fit their interests in hopes that it will drive greater engagement in reading, and it also provides important access to books to have at home for all students, regardless of circumstances.
This opportunity is made possible through the support of the Tuthill Foundation Grant, and the continued generosity of the late Virginia and Stedman Tuthill. The Tuthills were longtime Camden residents who were firm supporters of students, educators, and libraries.
After Stedman passed away in 1993, a grant was set up in the family name to support initiatives of the Camden Central School District, and the Camden Public Library. Virginia was a board member of the library for many years and cherished creating literacy opportunities for children. She passed away in 2014 at the remarkable age of 102. The couple's legacy lives on through initiatives such as this book fair, which has now benefited generations of students.

Earlier this week, CES First Graders visited the Great Swamp Conservancy! They learned about bats and butterflies, and also had a chance to scoop up and look at plenty of critters along the way!

CES 4th graders with Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. Owens are building complex machines as part of their Mystery Science lesson on transferring energy!

Our final meeting of the school year for the "Let's Play" Two-Year-Old program is underway with a little craft to "Octopi" the time! We're excited to see this group continue to grow in "Look at Me, I'm Three!" next year!

This morning, third graders from Mr. Janes and Mrs. Platt's third grade class at Camden Elementary saw some hard work pay off with a fish release! The class has been raising landlocked Atlantic Salmon through an long-standing educational partnership between the Camden Central School District, Trout Unlimited, and the Fish Creek Atlantic Salmon Club. The partnership aims to educate students about the incredible aquatic wildlife in their own backyard.
In addition to a fish release, students also enjoyed some exploration time to catch and examine other creatures, such as insects or crawfish.
This is the second year we have had a third grade classroom participate alongside our Middle School classrooms in this initiative, as Mr. Janes carried the initiative over from his previous teaching experiences.
The Middle School classes are eyeing Wednesday to release their fish! More to come....

On Saturday, the Camden Elementary School PTO played host to its 2025 Color Blast Run! Proceeds from the event will go to help the PTO continue their great work on behalf of our students, staff, and families!
Thank you to all who pitched in to make this event a success!

At the end of Wednesday morning's festivities, we got our fourth grade winners from each school together, along with team photos from Camden and McConnellsville! After a day of spirited competition, the bar has been set high (pun intended) for our third graders on Friday!

On Wednesday, fourth graders from both elementary schools came together to compete as part of the annual Camden Central School District fourth grade track meet! The event is always a highlight of the year, especially for this group as they prepare to become one Blue Devil family at Camden Middle School this fall!
Students strived to do their best while representing their school in six individual track events, five field events, and an exciting mixed 4x100 meter relay. Along the way, the competitors also learned how much they've grown since their third grade meet a year ago!
