CES has released its holiday spirit week schedule!

The Look at Me, I'm Three! program's December meeting is approaching quickly! The group is intended for district children who have turned three years old on or before December 1st, 2023.
The group will meet on Wednesday, December 20th at 5:30 PM at Camden Elementary School. Snacks and activities are included in this free program.
If you are attending, please RSVP to Patti Ferretti at pferretti@camdencsd.org or 315-245-2616, extension 5200. This will be very helpful in planning the evening.

On Thursday, Camden Elementary School celebrated Holiday Family Night!
A highlight of the evening was a new edition of the CES Masked Reader Initiative, featuring an appearance by the actual Grinch! Our students also got to meet with Santa to make any last-minute requests.
At this point, the Grinch probably is just asking Santa if he can be out of trouble. It's a big ask, but maybe he'll come through.
Who was our reading grinch? You'll see a video later today so you can start guessing, and the grand reveal will happen right before break!

To celebrate Computer Science Education week, students in all grade levels at Camden Elementary learned a little about coding. They had fun and learned while playing various online coding games such as "Beaver Achiever" and "Code Boogie".

Miss Leone's class at Camden Elementary had a fun time creating their countdown to Christmas!

A Family of Readers!
Our first grade classroom has been fortunate enough to have volunteer guest readers in this past month. Our students have enjoyed this very much! Aurora Johnson has definitely loved having these guest readers come in the most! Her mom, dad, sister and grandmother were all able to make an appearance! Thank you to all of our guest readers and we look forward to having more readers come in the upcoming months!

After studying about Native Americans and their environments, Mrs. Paul and Mrs. Pulizzi's 4th grade classes at CES attended a field trip to the Shako:wi Cultural Center in Oneida. They learned about how the original five nations of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy came together, why the Tuscaroras joined later and then they were able to create their own no face dolls using corn silk!

Camden Rotary Christmas Basket/Toys for Tots sign-ups start today at the Methodist Church, and run through Saturday!

This afternoon, the District was made aware of an odor of natural gas in the vicinity of Camden High School and Camden Elementary School. Building Administrators were able to immediately determine that the odor was originating from outside the buildings. As a precautionary measure, a call was placed to 911, and the Camden Fire Department and Camden Police Department immediately responded. It was promptly determined that students and staff were not in any danger, and the odor dissipated while the agencies were at the scene. With that understanding, the District was able to facilitate a safe, on time dismissal from both buildings.
The District would like to thank the Camden Fire Department and the Camden Police Department for their immediate response, as well as our Building Administrators and Building Safety Teams for following safety protocols. In addition, we are grateful to our Buildings and Grounds and Custodial staffs for their prompt attention and professionalism.
The fourth graders in Mrs. Davis', Mrs. Paul and Mrs. Pulizzi's 4th grade classes are learning about empathy and treating others with kindness. All of the classes read the book, Wonder by R.J. Palacio together and then watched the movie,
“When given the choice between being right or being kind choose kind.” -Wonder

We want to shoutout Paisleigh Boyd and her family for their incredibly generous donation of 150 hats and gloves to any student in need at Camden Elementary. Paisleigh said she wanted to help all the kids who needed gloves and hats. What a thoughtful gift in the season caring. Thank you so much !

Camden Schools have a 2 hour delay on Wednesday, November 29 due to poor weather conditions. Our AM PreK and AM Boces classes are cancelled for the day.
Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs. Platt's class is learning about voluntary and involuntary muscle movement. Here are students using voluntary movement while practicing mindfulness.

All after school activities are cancelled for Camden Schools on Tuesday, November 28 due to poor weather conditions in the Northern end of our District.
On Tuesday, November 28, Camden Middle School will dismiss early at 2 PM and Camden High School at 2:10 PM and all elementary students will dismiss at 3:20 PM. We have heavy snow and gusting in the Northern end of the school district.
Our Kindergarten students participated in a special snack creation on Tuesday ! Using graham crackers, Oreos, m&ms and a healthy scoop of frosting , each student created a delicious turkey.

The kindergarten students at CES created a turkey feather at home with their families to add to their classroom turkeys. The classroom turkeys are displayed in the hallway for all to see.
