Students at Camden Middle School got a different kind of science lesson on Tuesday, August 19th. Particularly, a lesson involving “the sweet science”. The student body came together to hear from retired US amateur boxing legend Cam F. Awesome at an assembly held in the Camden High School Auditorium. Awesome, previously known as Lenroy Thompson, is the winningest amateur boxer in US History. He is a four-time US National Champion in super heavyweight boxing, and a three-time winner of the prestigious Golden Gloves tournament. He has over 325 career wins. After hanging up the gloves for good, Awesome now tours the globe speaking at schools, community events, and corporate events. To Camden, he brought a message of gratitude, positivity, and the importance of stepping out of your comfort zone to achieve your goals. Want to learn more about Cam's story and bring it into your home? He was featured in the 2017 film "Counterpunch", streaming now on Netflix! Cam also spoke to Camden High School students today!

Camden Families! A reminder that the long-running Box Tops for Education program has gone digital! The Box Tops for Education program allows our schools to earn a small amount of money per participating product purchase, and that additional funding adds up! Is your student interested in picking up instrumental music this fall? Join the CCSD Music Department on the evening of Thursday, 9/14 for the chance for your student to sample a variety of instruments! Our music faculty will be there to help introduce your child to musical instruments and help them find a fit that works for them. Two local retailers will be on hand to answer questions about rentals, sales, and instrument care! Matt Donaleski is your person to contact if you have questions.

Here they are.... your incoming fifth grade students at Camden Middle School! 130 students participated in our second session of the CMS "Movin On Up!" orientation program! Attendees were treated to an action-packed two day program that was created to prepare them for life at the Middle School in a relaxed, informal setting. They had plenty of chances to learn about their classmates, school staff, and the building they'll call home for the next four years! The Summer of 2022 marked the program's debut, and Principal Brittany DerCola noticed a significant improvement in student readiness after that initial run. "Last year we saw that students were a lot more comfortable coming in on the first day," DerCola said. "They recognized their teachers and knew which students were in their first period class, so it helped them find their way much more quickly. Giving them time to connect with their classmates during the orientation also gets a lot of the early socializing and silliness out of the way so that when the school year starts we can get right to business!" This offering is made possible in part through assistance from the LEAP Summer Enrichment program at Madison-Oneida BOCES. LEAP also helps administer other summer programming in the District, including Camp-Sum-More-Fun, Brain Gain, and Kindergarten Boot Camp!

Just thinking back to this EPIC eighth grade moving up ceremony speech! Camden Middle School welcomes its next incoming class of fifth graders for a two-day orientation program this week! Be on the lookout for pictures from Wednesday's activities!

Camden FFA members went to the NYS Fair today to observe multiple FFA competitions. Mary, Matt, and Kayla will hopefully compete in the poultry evaluation CDE next year. Students also saw the miracle of life at the dairy birthing center along with other livestock shows. Students are eager to be involved in Camden FFA!

Our August new staff orientation is underway!

A reminder from Athletic Director Josh Mazzaferro: Good Afternoon, This is a friendly reminder that on Thursday, August 24th at 6:00 PM, the Athletic Department will be hosting a mandatory Player, Parent/Guardian information meeting in the Camden High School Auditorium. This meeting will start with guest speaker Rocky Corigliano(See attached), followed by Athletic Department expectations. The night will conclude with coaches hosting their team meetings where they will go over team policies, expectations, and other valuable information.
