Mrs.Sullivan's 6th grade history class is studying Stone Age technology.

Mrs. Smith’s 7th grade US History classes recently completed a unit of study on the Haudenosaunee. Team GOAT welcomed Juanita Willson as she told students the Creation Story of the Haudenosaunee people as well as various aspects of their culture. Most know the Haudenosaunee as the Iroquois Nation. Juanita is a member of the Wolf Clan of the Mohawk Nation, local owner of the Full Moon Reflections Art Gallery, and retired CMS teacher.
Mrs. Willson brought in the moose antler carving she created that depicts important elements of Haudenosaunee culture: the nine clans, White Pine of Peace, the bald eagle, Thunder Beings, Sky Woman and Turtle Island. We are very grateful that Mrs. Willson came in and provided the students with a Native perspective on the Thanksgiving story and the arrival of Europeans to North America. The Native perspective is usually missing from textbooks and storybooks which results in one sided version of history. Thank you Mrs. Willson for expanding the minds of our CMS students.
