Teach a Teacher presentations are in full effect in the Agriculture Elective classes! As the 20 week classes come to an end, students are sharing their new knowledge with their teachers from other subject areas. Students are demonstrating content knowledge and also practicing their public speaking skills! We also have little strawberries on the grow tower. Stay tuned!

This week in the MakerSpace we have Giant Magnetic Tiles for the student to explore.

Students are putting their critical thinking and hot glue skills to the test in the agriculture courses. Last week students designed livestock facilities that incorporated renewable energy. This week students are creating mini models of their livestock facilities using popsicle sticks and construction paper.

Congratulations to the students in Mrs. Willson's 6th grade homeroom for winning 2nd place in the middle school division of the New York Agriculture in the Classroom's Mac & Cheese Challenge with their "Garlic Mac & Cheese" recipe. There were over 250 entries in this statewide competition. Nice work!

Just a little over a month ago the agriculture room started their strawberry plants in the aeroponic systems. This week we are seeing blossoms and baby strawberries appearing for the first time! The students are eager for the crop to start producing so they can experience a fresh strawberry!

It's Featured Book Friday for the Middle School Media Center and we received new books this week. Our featured book this week is Surviving Middle School: Navigating the Halls, Riding the Social Roller Coaster, and Unmasking the Real You by Luke Reynolds. Our students love fiction books like the Wimpy Kid and Dork Diaries series. This is a non-fiction offering by a veteran middle school teacher. He uses honesty and humor to teach the kiddos how to navigate this time

That's all YOLKS!
Agriculture students participated in an EGGciting lesson where they learned all about eggs! Students learned the correct scientific terms for the parts of an egg.

It was a Wonderful Wednesday! Our puppy friends came to the Media Center a day later than usual this week. Thanks to Mrs. Kate Wilson for setting up these visits with Lewis Manor Labradoodles.

Today keeps getting better and better in the agriculture room! Today the agriculture room was visited by the CCE agriculture educator of Oneida county! The students learning about the anatomy of eggs by doing a live egg dissection!

Students are at it again in the agriculture classes at CMS! Students not only are growing lettuce in aeroponic systems but they also have the chance to make flower arrangements for faculty and staff. Students learn from hands on experiences and the agriculture room makes it a point for that dream to be a reality!

New year, new books! Here is just a small selection of our new books that were delivered to the Middle School Media Center this week.

As students eagerly left the classroom for winter break they got an early Christmas surprise from the agriculture aeroponic systems. The green beans the students planted over a month ago finally produced the first batch of deliciousness. The students got the opportunity to taste a fresh green bean straight from the plant! The left over parts of the green beans were not wasted but fed to the class Guinea Pig Frank for a delicious snack as well!

Mrs. Johnson's fifth grade reading class made snowman ornaments to get ready for the holidays!

Not only do students prosper and grow in the agriculture classroom so do the plants! The photos show the blossoms of cucumbers and peas! The flowers mean they are close to producing cucumbers and peas!

Feature Book Friday (One Day Early)! Today's book is by Harry Potter Author JK Rowling. In this story Jack, a young boy, loses his best friend, a stuffed animal named Dur Pig. Jack and his new toy, the Christmas Pig, go on a magical journey to find his best friend.

Mrs Potter's classes learned about the tradition of Bûche de Noël in France and Tió de Nadal in northern Spain this week and created their own to bring home!
