Getting to Know... BOE Student Representatives Reagan Arnold and Adam Orsino

For a second straight year, the Camden Central School District is giving students a seat at the Board of Education table. The District’s Board of Education student representative program returns to Camden High School with two new representatives joining regular meetings throughout the 2026-27 school year.

This position provides an opportunity for current Camden High School students to get a closer look at school district governance, while also advising the board on various matters from a student’s perspective. The position is an ex-officio (non-voting) role.

For this school year, our primary representative is senior Reagan Arnold, while junior Adam Orsino serves as the alternate. We caught up with both students to get their thoughts on the experience, and how they hope to use it in their future endeavors.

What made you want to pursue this opportunity?

RA: I wanted to pursue this opportunity because I am and have always been very interested in public service and helping improve my community. I was introduced to this position last year by Bella Keller and Ella Winters (25/26 Student Board Members) and so when the opportunity was presented to me I decided to apply. My thought was that this is an amazing first step into the world of public service and local government.

AO: The thing that made me want to pursue this opportunity is to influence institutional decisions, and gain real-world leadership and civics experience.

What does this position mean to you?

RA: This position is very important to me because it is more than just sitting on the Board. It represents dedication to my community and the people who have helped me learn and grow into the person I am today.

AO: This position means that I am someone who is responsible and trusted by many.

What do you hope to learn this year?

RA: I want to learn more about how decisions are made at the District level and what goes into creating positive change for our students. I also hope to strengthen my communication and leadership skills throughout the year.

AO: Better public speaking capabilities along with professional communication and more leadership skills.

What do you find interesting about public service?

RA: I find public service interesting because it is a way to make a real change in your community. By listening to diverse perspectives you are able to turn issues into ideas and solutions.

AO: I find it interesting/intriguing because I can help people on a more meaningful level. And it’s not just students of Camden, it's all of Camden.

RA: I am the president of Student Leadership. I am a member of Drama Club and act as the Costume Mistress during both the fall and spring plays. I am the treasurer of Camden Corner Store. I am a member of both the National Honor Society and Business and Marketing Honor Society. I am Vice President of Musical, and the Treasurer of Book Club. 

AO: At CHS I am involved in Student Leadership, the Theater/Drama program (plays and musicals), Saints, Book Club, Writers Club, and Newspaper Club. I am also the Junior Class President.

What are your future plans shaping up to be? Do you have any career aspirations in mind?

RA: After high school I plan to study International Business or Business Law in college. I'm interested in eventually pursuing my MBA as well as a Law Degree. My career goal is to become a lawyer focusing on criminal prosecution.

AO: As of right now, I am going to continue my education, and get a Bachelors of Science in Nursing.
