On Thursday, May 15th, three seniors from Camden High School took home podium finishes at the 2025 New York State Conservation Competition. This year’s competition took place at SUNY Cobleskill.
The New York State Conservation Competition brings together students from school districts and BOCES across the state to participate in technical and academic competitive events pertaining to resource conservation. Students test their skills in areas including conservation practices, forestry, heavy equipment operation, wildlife identification, land management and more.
The three students were part of a contingent representing the Madison-Oneida BOCES Conservation CTE program.
David Smith placed second in the Differential Leveling/Team Surveying competition. He teamed up with Rome’s Devin Stalnaker to produce the top result for the MOBOCES team at the event.
A pair of third place individual finishes were also awarded to Camden students. Brodie Buckingham secured third place honors in the Compass and Pacing event, and Elijah Jackson placed third in Fish and Wildlife Identification.
