Kathryn Zangrilli

The evening of Tuesday, August 26th marked a terrific occasion for the McConnellsville Elementary School community to reunite after the excitement of summer. Old friends caught up on the events of the past few months, new friends were made, and the community had a chance to connect with new principal Kathryn Zangrilli as Connected Community Schools and the McConnellsville Elementary School PTO played host to the annual Back-to-School bash event.

The event provides an informal setting for staff, students, and families to catch up on their summer, have brief conversations about the upcoming year, and do so while enjoying a family-friendly outing. There was a bubble station courtesy of Connected Community Schools, complimentary ice cream for students served by Rick’s Polar Pops, free popcorn, and a large inflatable slide.

The event also served as a meet-and-greet for McConnellsville’s newest leader, although she is familiar to many. The 2002 Camden High School graduate has been enjoying a return to her home District after over two decades working in other area Districts. The sense of community from Tuesday’s event certainly served to further that transition.

“While I have only been working in the district for about 2 months, I already feel a sense of being back at home,” Zangrilli said. “Seeing the staff, families, and students come together for this event made it feel even more like the place that I belong. Seeing smiling faces made me excited for the start of the school year.”
