Isabella and Ella

On Wednesday, September 17th, the newest members of the Camden Central School District Board of Education participated in a welcome event for student board of education representatives in New York. Student representative Isabella Keller and alternate Ella Winters took part remotely alongside hundreds of their peers from across the state.

This event was presented by the New York State Education Department, the New York State School Boards Association, and created to provide new student board members with an understanding of their responsibilities, connect them with leaders, and celebrate the commitment they’ve made to serve their school and be part of the governance process over the next year.

The event included comments from NYSSBA Executive Director Robert Schneider, NYSSBA President Sandra Ruffo, NYS Education Commissioner Betty Rosa, and multiple members of the State Legislature. There was also a question and answer period.

Isabella and Ella are serving one year terms. Their role is an advisory role created to provide guidance and perspective from the student body at each meeting, and is an ex officio, non-voting position on the board.
