CAMDEN, NY - The Camden Central School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Stacey Vaile for the role of Director of Transportation.
Vaile, a lifelong Blue Devil, takes a promotion to the department’s top job after nine years serving the District in the role of driver/dispatcher. She has been working with the District since December of 2009, when she started as a substitute bus driver. She is also a former Camden parent who has put two children through the District, and a 1989 graduate of Camden High School.
Vaile says all of these experiences have added up to a rewarding career, which now has an exciting next chapter.
“Personally, it means a lot to be here,” she said. “I went through a lot to get to this point. I was born and raised here. I had two kids here that went to Camden. This is my hometown, and this school is my family.”
In her new role, Vaile will draw heavily on her proven track record of problem-solving and seamless adaptation to a variety of daily scenarios, while adding on managerial duties across all facets of the District’s Transportation Center. She will be responsible for managing personnel, scheduling routes, supervising bus maintenance and cleanliness, and administering the department’s budget, among other duties.
The District’s administrative team holds a shared belief that Vaile’s unique qualifications will position her well for a new challenge, and an optimistic future for the District’s Transportation Center.
“I’m very excited to have Stacey in this position,” Superintendent of Schools Jason Evangelist said. “I am very appreciative of all the work she has done, and I'm looking forward to her leadership for years to come. Our Transportation Center is going to love having her as a leader.”
“Stacey has been a dedicated bus driver and dispatcher for Camden for over fifteen years,” Assistant Superintendent for Business Karen Jones said. “We are excited that she has officially stepped into this well-earned leadership role. Throughout her career at the Transportation Center, she has demonstrated her commitment, professionalism, and in-depth knowledge of our transportation operations. From ensuring the safety of our students on a daily basis to coordinating bus routes and supporting staff, Stacey has consistently gone above and beyond. Her experience and commitment make her well-prepared to lead our transportation department forward.”
While she brings an element of continuity to the position, Vaile has plans to be an agent for positive change as well.
“I want this to be a place where everybody says they want to work. I want this to be a place where people see us as the safest department out there, the one with the best morale, camaraderie, and a place where you are treated like family. I want this to be a place where people want to be.”
