SEPTEMBER 22, 2020 - CONSTRUCTION PROPOSITION VOTE
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION
 OF THE DISTRICT,
AS FOLLOWS:
 
NOTICE OF SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT MEETING
OF THE VOTERS OF THE
CAMDEN CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
 
THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE CAMDEN CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that pursuant to a Resolution adopted by the Board of Education of the District on the July 7, 2020, a special meeting of the qualified voters of said School District will be held on September 22, 2020, at the High School Lobby located at 55 Oswego Street in Camden, New York by voting machine between the hours of 12:00 noon and 8:00 p.m. for the purpose of voting upon the proposition set forth below.
           
Proposition:
 
Shall the following resolution be adopted:
 
RESOLVED, that the Camden Central School District is hereby authorized to undertake a project consisting of certain renovations, additions, alterations and improvements to the buildings and grounds at the District’s McConnellsville Elementary School, Camden Elementary School, Camden Middle School, Camden High School, as well as the District Office and Bus Garage.  All to include energy efficiency improvements, site, access, technology, parking and playfield, track, concession stand and pressbox  improvements, demolition, utility, mechanical, plumbing and electrical improvements, the acquisition of original furnishings, fixtures and equipment and payment of professional fees and all other necessary costs incidental to such work (the “Project”) at a total maximum estimated cost of $41,500,000 and to pay for the Project by spending any available funds, including State building aid, and to the extent necessary, the levy of a tax upon the taxable property of the School District to be collected in annual installments in the years and in the amounts as the Board of Education shall determine and in anticipation of such tax the District is authorized to issue up to $41,500,000 of obligations of the School District and levy a tax to pay the principal and interest on said obligations when due.
 
PUBLIC HEARING AND SUPPORTING INFORMATION:
 
The District Administration will provide a Public Hearing on the details of the construction project that the authorization if approved will address.  The Public Hearing will provide financial information as well as additional information relevant to the project being proposed.  The Public Hearing will be held one week before the vote on September 15, 2020, at the High School Media Center at 7:00 p.m.  Supporting information will also be posted on the District website as early as September 8, 2020.
 
ABSENTEE VOTING OPTION:

As a result of the COVID -19 Pandemic the district will make available absentee ballots for any and all district qualified voters.  The New York State Education Law provides that a person is entitled to vote at any annual or special school district meeting if they are a qualified voter.
 
A qualified voter:

• Must be a citizen of the United States.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Must be a resident of the school district at least 30 days prior to the meeting which he/she offers to vote.

• Must be not prohibited from voting under the provisions of Section 5-106 of the Election Law (having been convicted of a felony or adjudged mentally incompetent).

• If voting in person, must present proof of residence with a picture, such as a driver’s license or non-driver identification.

To request a ballot please call the District Office at 315-245-2500.  You will need to supply your full name, mailing address and call back phone number.  You may also stop into the District Office at 51 Third Street, Camden to pick up a ballot.  Ballots will need to be in the District Office by 5:00 p.m. on the date of the vote September 22, 2020; postmark is not acceptable.

Community Bank on Harden Blvd. in Camden to collect school taxes.

It is quick , easy and you will receive a receipt.
