On Tuesday, September 2nd, the Camden Central School District held its Opening Day All-Staff Assembly. This year’s edition took a different approach with a shorter, streamlined program held outside at the Camden High School Stadium, and staff were encouraged to wear blue and white in a unified show of school spirit.
After some time to catch up on summer happenings over coffee and a light breakfast, staff settled in for the scheduled program, which featured introductory remarks from Superintendent of Schools Jason P. Evangelist. Evangelist is in his first full year in that role after three years serving as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, and a concurrent six month term as Interim Superintendent of Schools before receiving a permanent appointment.
The occasion also included the annual recognition of employees for achieving 25 years of service with the District, which includes the following employees.
Randy Bajohr - Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds
Jake Bates - Technology Teacher, Coach
Karen Brazie - Food Service
Matthew Donaleski - Music Teacher
Jennifer Guhin - Music Teacher
Christine Kio - School Counselor
Melissa Matthews - Food Service
Shannon McPheron - Special Education Teacher, Coach
Lisha Rivera - Transportation
Jessica Talbot - Food Service
The District commends each of the above listed employees on their commitment to excellence over a quarter century, and for the work they’ve done to improve our community, and the lives of our students.
The remainder of the day featured classroom setup and professional development as the first of two Superintendent’s Conference Days to start the year. Students returned to class on Thursday, September 4th.
