International Wire Internship

With its groundbreaking inaugural class in the rear view mirror, the time has come for the International Wire Internship program at Camden High School to introduce its second cohort of interns for the 2025-26 school year.

International Wire recently welcomed junior Connor Collins and senior Sora Kiedrowski to their global headquarters to begin an immersive year-long study in the daily operations of one of the world’s foremost manufacturers of copper wire products, and one of the most significant employers in Oneida County.

The course is a Dual Credit offering presented in partnership with Mohawk Valley Community College, and students have the opportunity to receive three college credits alongside school credit by pursuing one of two avenues in the program: Business Administration, and Engineering. Among this year’s group, Collins is participating in a Business Administration internship, while Kiedrowski is pursuing an Engineering Internship.

Each week, students complete four hours of work on-site under the close supervision of International Wire staff, and that work isn’t always just for learning’s sake - these students can play an active role in company operations along the way.

Just last year, engineering intern Jacob Lago developed a new anode prototype for wire plating to improve safety on the factory floor, and it wasn’t long before Todd Willson was working with amounts of money larger than he had ever seen. And this group will be afforded similar opportunities that go as far as their ambition takes them.

Camden High School business teacher Steven Klepadlo helps to oversee the program, and feels the benefits are endless for students, for the District, and for workforce development efforts from local businesses.

“The International Wire internship is an amazing opportunity,” Klepadlo said. “It provides job shadowing and real world training in multiple areas, and helps to prepare students for entrance into a competitive work environment. It also creates a bond between Camden High School, MVCC, and the business community.”

Camden High School students interested in pursuing this program in the future should inquire with their school counselor.
