With the help of the Adirondack Experience Museum, fourth grade students at Camden Elementary traveled back in time to learn about a prominent period in New York State’s socioeconomic history on Friday, October 17th.
Each fourth grade class welcomed the Museum’s School Programs Coordinator, Meg McGee, for an interactive presentation about New York State’s role in the fur trade between indigenous populations and settlers from abroad. They received a background overview of how the fur trade functioned and why it was important, saw some real pelts from animals native to our area, and completed a trade simulation activity where they practiced bartering using a printed price list from the period.
The Adirondack Experience Museum is located in Blue Mountain Lake,NY.
