The Camden Central School District (enrollment 2,586) has a vacancy for a Transportation Director.  This position will be responsible for the total operation of the District’s transportation fleet.  This position is effective immediately/ March 2, 2026.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • CDL Class B license with a P&S endorsement or in the process of obtaining. 

  • Proven record of scheduling routes and effective problem-solving.

  • 2 Years of experience in route scheduling and employee supervision.

  • Such alternatives to the above qualification as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Twelve (12) month position. 

  • The salary range is $60,000-$90,000 (commensurate with experience). 

  • Performance of this position will be evaluated, in writing, annually by the Assistant Superintendent for Business.


DUTIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to): 

  • Serves as a leader for his/her bus drivers and support staff. 

  • Establishes and maintains an effective cooperative work environment. 

  • Establishes guidelines for proper student conduct and maintaining student discipline.

  • Supervises all transportation employees, including support staff.  

  • Preparing or assisting in the preparation of bus routes and schedules.

  • Interviewing, training, and assigning bus drivers.

  • Maintain time and trip records.

  • Preparing transportation and accident reports as needed.

  • Addresses questions, concerns, comments, and disciplinary matters concerning the District’s transportation services.

  • Maintains careful supervision of bus cleanliness, operation, and maintenance.

  • Ensures that transportation operations comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including those of New York State.

  • Evaluate and counsel all staff members regarding their performance. 

  • Creates and maintains policies for the transportation department.

  • Supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the transportation department. 

  • Prepares and administers the school's transportation budget.

  • Reviews and approves weekly payroll and attendance.

  • Conducts regular staff meetings to facilitate communication regarding transportation needs, operation changes, and/or policies.

  • Keeps the Assistant Superintendent for Business informed of the department’s activities and any concerns.

  • Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field. 

  • Performs other duties assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Business.
