Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at the Camden Central School District!

This particular group of fifth graders has embraced the task with gusto!
We start out with Evan Morrison. He loves "I Survived" and has become an advocate for our library. He has shown several others how to become a guest librarian. He created a poster and he is in the midst of making a video about the current featured guest librarians. He has gone above and beyond our wildest expectations.
Next up in Skylar Crysler. She loves the author Beverly Cleary and didn't stop asking about her chance to become a featured guest librarian from the second she found out about it. Her enthusiasm for the task really shines.
Last, but not least, we have Hailey Hollingsworth. Hailey is always showing off her shelf to anyone who walks into the library when she is in there. She is always eager to show off what she is interested in reading to her fellow students!
Thank you to these three amazing students. We will have new Guest Librarians in the New Year.

Two representatives from the Wanderers Rest Humane Association, along with Lady (a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel), came to visit the members of Mrs. Malenowski's IFA Reading Group today to show their appreciation for the recent Pennies for Puppies/Coins for Kitties donation.
With the support of the McVille community, this year's effort raised $669.82!

On Monday, November 24th, our Camden CSD 3rd grade teachers hosted their Curriculum Family Night at CES.
Families rotated between stations involving reading, writing, math, mindfulness, and a picture station. Each child was also given a free book from Title I. Attendees took home resources and manipulatives to help their third graders excel at reading comprehension, math facts, writing skills and self regulation strategies.
There were also raffles, with CES students Ryelyn Young and Colton Sanborn taking home the prizes!
The event was well attended, and all had a great time!

They were so excited to share their special dish with the other first grade students!

Speaking of popcorn, Mrs. Libertella and Mr. Keller’s Consumer Chemistry class recently did an exploration of how the fluffy movie time treat is made. They compared the mass and volume of popcorn in two states: before popping, and after popping. Students learned that the mass decreases slightly because of the small amount of water vapor that escapes when the corn pops. However, as you may know, the volume of the popcorn increases dramatically.
But why? The water inside the kernel heats, turns to steam and builds pressure. When the hull ruptures, the starch gelatinizes, and rapidly expands into the fluffy foam structure we recognize as popcorn.

To kick off Thanksgiving Week, Camden High School held a "School Spirit Day". While students were encouraged to wear their blue and white, the staff were challenged to wear apparel from their own high schools. Among the highlights were 12 staff members wearing their own Blue Devil gear as alumni, a very strong contingent from our neighboring District in Rome, and some apparel from out of state.
Look down in front, and you'll see a classic from a school that no longer exists in its past form. Mrs. Ciotti came to school rocking her varsity jacket from her days at Ilion High School - home of the Golden Bombers. Today you know that District, post-merger, as Central Valley.

After reading the book Balloons Over Broadway by Melissa Sweet and learning about the history of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, 4th grade students at Camden Elementary held their own parade right in the library! Students created their own balloons, attached them to Ozobot robots and cheered on as they watched their balloons sail by.

From now until November 30th, you can order special edition CCSD apparel to be shipped to CHS for free, or to your home for an additional charge. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Camden Corner Store Club at CHS and its Camden Corner Store Scholarship Fund.

Along the way, each of the four classes at CHS was competing for top honors. The Class of 2026 successfully defended its crown from a year ago - with a total of 107 items originating out of the senior class. The Class of 2027 placed second, the Class of 2028 was third, and the Class of 2029 was fourth. For their victory, the Senior class will receive some delicious ice cream!
Chapter members gathered on Friday in the Foyer to sort and pack the donations up for delivery.
Thank you to everyone who donated to help people in need, right in our community!

This was all made possible through a grant from the National FFA Organization! Keep your eyes out for the next opportunity!

Be our guest with free admission to both performances in the CMS Auditorium!
