Our CSMF Lego Creators cabin has started their final builds! The students have been tasked with using concepts from their previous builds to create items that will all fit together to tell a story. Students get to use robotics kits as part of the class. The kits teach basic programming concepts that they can use as a foundation for more advanced concepts as they get older!

Students in the Camp Sum-More-Fun Encore Jazz cabin were making final preparations for Thursday morning's concert program! Our musicians will perform immediately following the drama cabin performance at 9:30 AM. Parents and families of our performers are welcome!

To borrow a line from a classic cinema song, our CSMF drama students have been having a bippity-boppity blast over the last week and a half! Since last Monday, the students have been hard at work on a short production called "Cinderella Rap", which they will be performing Thursday morning at 9:30 AM. Parents and families are welcome to join the fun and see their students perform.
Camp Sum-More-Fun is a #MOBOCES LEAP Summer Enrichment Program.

A quick note from principal Heidi Allen for our Brain Gain Institute and Kindergarten Bootcamp families! If you are participating and have not received a letter, please reach out to her. We're excited to start our second season of this program next week!

Mr. Fiorini gets soaked in the dunk tank: A Play in Two Acts

The CSMF Lego Robotics Cabins: "Creators" and "Innovators", went on a fantastic field trip to visit the MVCC Science and Technology department. In the MVCC Fab Lab, they learned about 3D printing, metal printing, and laser cutters. They even created a design that was carved onto a dog tag. In the computer science building they coded M-Bots. Both cabins had a blast!

The Camden High School drama club is pleased to announce the title of its fall 2023 production. This year's CHS Fall Play will be "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," adapted for the stage by playwright Virginia Koste!
This unique re-telling of locally-born author L. Frank Baum's classic story will be presented three times. The opening night performance will be held on Friday, November 3rd at 7 PM. There will be two performances on Saturday, November 4th. The first will be a matinee held at 2 PM, and one final performance will be held at 7:30 PM.
Auditions will be held in September. Contact advisor Stephanie Heath if you have questions.
Synopsis: Like the stage manager in Our Town, Frank Baum "stage manages" his story to keep the action brisk from scene to scene. Baum is a welcome and theatrical addition. In real life he was an actor, traveling salesman, vaudeville manager and newspaperman. Swept to Oz on a cyclone, Dorothy joins with the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion as she searches for home and family. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz celebrates the importance of mind and heart; courage in facing what is feared; the need to dream, to dare, to ride out storms; the joys of loving, laughing, crying, being lost and found. Faithful to the original book, Virginia Koste's play creates a fresh framework for Oz.

Students in the CSMF Construction Crew cabin are working on gravity-powered cars as one of their projects! Today was test day as Mr. Calkins set up the ramp in the hallway for students to see their cars in action.

Today was "Camp Store Preview" day for our CSMF campers! Groups of campers came in to meet our Tycoon Junior business cabin and see the items they'll be able to buy with their camp bucks from Tuesday through Thursday this week!

Last Thursday, the Tycoon Jr. business campers from Camp Sum-More-Fun visited Tops in Camden for a business tour. The class learned a lot about product pricing, product promotion, and product placement, which are all essential marketing elements in the retail space! Special thanks to the folks at Tops for hosting our students for this experience!

The "Minute to Win It" event hosted by Connected Community Schools sure looked like a lot of fun!

Did you know that Camden students can participate in high school ice hockey? Camden is a participating school in the Mohawk Valley Jugglers combined hockey team that competes in Section III competition each winter. Camden students Brodie and Evan Buckingham are on the team currently, along with students from 10 other area districts.
The team relies on fundraising to stay on the ice, and could use your support at their upcoming golf tournament to be held at Stonebridge Golf Club in New Hartford on Friday, August 4th. Registration is at 8 AM, and golf begins with a "shotgun" start on the course at 9 AM.
The cost is 100 dollars per person, which includes greens fees, cart, lunch, beverages, dinner, on-course contests, door prizes, and of course, important resources for the team to compete this winter.
Sponsorship packages are also available for interested businesses.
To register, learn more about the tournament, or learn about sponsorship, click this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_mb2BfvBLuVCgptyv3QCJlJv4dkzpqY0/view?usp=sharing

The agriculture cabin had a moo-ving and grooving day learning about cattle on Wednesday!
Mrs. Willson, a local dairy farmer and Math teacher at Camden Middle School, took time to educate students at Camp-Sum-More-Fun about the dairy industry and her farm.
"Happy" was also a welcomed visitor, and students even had the opportunity to learn how to milk a cow! Check back in later to see what Thursday was all a-"baaaa"-out!
CSMF is a program coordinated in partnership with Madison-Oneida BOCES.
