We welcomed several new staff members this morning to kick off our two-day new staff orientation program! Welcome to the team!

Our August new staff orientation is underway!

McConnellsville Elementary School principal Heidi Allen recently received a large donation of school supplies from International Wire!
International Wire employees did their part to help McVille students go back to school without a list by organizing a supply drive. In conjunction with efforts from Connected Community Schools and the McConnellsville PTO, the three organizations were able to compile enough supplies to outfit each McConnellsville student for the start of a new year!

A reminder from Athletic Director Josh Mazzaferro:

Connected Community Schools has announced that Open HUB Hours for today, 8/21 are cancelled. Stay tuned for the next opportunity, and reach out to the CCS team if there is anything they can do for you in the interim.
You could really say that this weekend really "Snake-d" up on us. Bad jokes aside, we hope you have a great one!

Our Brain Gain students recently wrapped up their two-week program with some ice cream! Thanks to our Connected Community Schools folks for doing some scooping, and to Stewart's Shops for providing us with ice cream to make it happen.

Coming up this week with Connected Community Schools!

Is your child's information up to date? Do you still need to register your student in our school district? Rachel is standing by at the District Office to help you!

Did you know that today, August 9th, was declared as "Connor Dean Day" in Oneida County?
Congratulations to our newest state champion on this awesome honor!

It just wouldn't be a carnival if we didn't have cotton candy! Brain Gain Institute students were learning all about the science behind cotton candy this week for a fun and interactive lesson!
Tomorrow is the final day for Brain Gain and the Kindergarten boot camp program. Per our sources, the Utica Zoomobile is coming to help celebrate the occasion!

Brain Gain and Kindergarten Bootcamp students are getting Physical Education instruction included for the first time as part of the second year of both programs! CHS PE teacher Katherine Migliori took the initiative to craft a full proposal for PE to be included this year, and she's done a great job with the younger students this summer!

Our Brain Gain Institute students are benefiting from additional literacy instruction this summer. In keeping with the carnival theme for this year's program, students read a book about the topic and then practiced their word association skills with some "Carnival Bingo"!

Need supply lists? We have them here!
Current lists from CMS and CES are posted, and we'll advise you of any further changes we may get. CHS does not have any sort of centralized list because of the variety in class schedules from student to student. The page also includes McConnellsville's special school supply announcement from earlier this week.
Have a question about supplies? Contact your building's main office and they can help get the answers you seek.
We're getting closer and closer to starting the year!

McConnellsville Elementary School families: Please see the image below for a special message from Principal Heidi Allen regarding school supplies for McConnellsville Elementary School students for the upcoming year.
A very special thank you to the McConnellsville PTO, International Wire, and Connected Community Schools for their generosity toward our students, and to everyone at McConnellsville who helped make this happen.
