Congratulations are in order for Camden Middle School's own Mr. Nate Donaleski!
A few weeks ago, Nate crossed the Atlantic for an incredible opportunity to participate in the Berlin Marathon, which is a World Marathon Majors Event! Nate finished a blazing fast 26.2 mile course that is known for world record times in 2:52:21.
Speaking of world records, Nate got to be part of one. With 54,280 finishers, the 2024 Berlin Marathon is now the largest marathon ever run!
Have you ever tried to outrun a dinosaur? Well, Mrs. Mitchell's third grade class did on Tuesday! Students have been learning about how fossils help scientists learn about living things from the past and how using characteristics from animals of today can help us learn even more. Students compared their strides while running to a dinosaur with a similar leg length, and they found it would be pretty challenging to outrun one!
If they want to double check their work with a second experiment, there might be some dinosaurs running around on Halloween. We can't promise the data will be anywhere close, though.

There are no Varsity or JV home contests today, so it's Modified's time to shine! Modified boys' soccer and football will start at 4:30 at CHS, and modified field hockey will start at 5! The fun continues at 7 with the Camden AYSO Olympics!
Make sure you come hungry for a treat or two, as the Oh Crepe and Waffles, Two Hip Chicks Sliders, and Squeezers Lemonade trucks will be serving throughout the events, with proceeds to benefit Camden AYSO.

Our Professional Development collaboration with Cuba-Rushford Middle School on Friday also gave us a great opportunity to bring our agriculture educators together!

Camden Middle School! The Scholastic Book Fair is here! Students can shop during their lunch period throughout the week in the Library Media Center. You can pre-load money onto a student's e-wallet at the link shown. Contact the main office with questions.

We hope to see you this evening as Camden Girls Varsity Soccer battles Whitesboro, while supporting the globe's ongoing battle against Breast Cancer with their annual awareness game. Kickoff is set for 4:30!

Our Camden Middle School cast members think you positively must attend their performances of Willy Wonka Jr on November 14th and 15th! Come drift into a world of pure imagination, where the Oompa Loompas have a perfect puzzle for you, and the chocolate rivers flow effortlessly.
Both performances will begin at 7 PM! Mark those calendars!

Students in Mrs. Bloomquist's Library Skills class recently did some coding with our new SAM Lab equipment in the media center at CMS! Their assignment was to de-bug the program they were given, and figure out how to make their car run straight.

During Friday's professional development day, we brought some of the best of the best together as Camden Middle School spent the day with the staff from another National School to Watch, Cuba-Rushford Middle School! The two schools came together for a presentation on Grading for Equity to the Middle School level, and smaller breakout sessions were offered to promote networking and closer collaboration. It was an excellent day of learning and sharing!

No matter the student's age, good attendance matters. #CCSDAttendanceAwarenessMonth

Come support Camden Girls Soccer on Tuesday!

Be here. Be on time. Every day. #CCSDAttendanceAwarenessMonth

Mrs. Kuc's second grade class at Camden Elementary learned more about the animal kingdom with a field trip to Fort Rickey last week! As you might expect, they were big fans of the petting zoo! Thanks to our student teacher, Miss Sochia, for the pictures!

Yesterday, Miss Stone's class at CES finished their science unit on works of water and erosion. Students learned about the flow of rivers and where they come from. They learned why some beaches have different color sand and lastly we learned about erosion and landslides. Students built models of mountains using cornstarch and made it rain on their models. This allowed them to see the formation of rivers and canyons. Lastly students tested different way to protect their mountain to avoid landslides. students took notes and made adjustments to their models to more effectively protect their mountains.

Friday's morning program at CES was hosted by first graders, and featured a special guest presentation from the Camden Fire Department! This week is National Fire Prevention Week, so our local volunteer firefighters came in with some great reminders about what to do to prevent fires, and what to do if you are in a building that catches fire.
They also did an equipment demonstration to help our young students become familiar with how an interior firefighter looks and sounds in full turnout gear. This helps to build trust and hopefully, facilitate a better response if any student should ever find themselves in that unfortunate situation.
It's as good a time as any right now to check your smoke detectors and make/practice an evacuation plan for your household.
The Camden Middle School apparel sale closes on Friday! A portion of all profits goes directly to help fund field trips, dances, and other fun school events. There are shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, hats, polos all in adult and youth sizes and all are customizable!
