We are pleased to host New York Times Bestselling Author Kate Messner at Camden Middle School today! Kate will be here this afternoon to speak to our students about her book "The Trouble With Heroes" and will also conduct a book signing for students in the library.
If you haven't read her written works, some may remember Kate as a reporter for the Syracuse NBC Affiliate WSTM back in the 1990s, and she later spent 15 years teaching at the middle school level before branching out into full-time authorship.
Welcome!

Funds raised will benefit the Wanderer's Rest Humane Association in Canastota!

On Monday, November 3rd, McConnellsville third grade classes had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Michael Kuczynski over videoconference about his work with the animal kingdom! Kuczynski, a Professor of Biology at Mohawk Valley Community College, answered questions from students about his past research on Gray Treefrogs, animals in general, and what he has seen while scuba diving. The visit fit in perfectly with their Animal Classification Unit.
Kuczynski is the husband of McVille third grade teacher Julia Ritsema. We appreciate him making some time for our students to talk about his work!

Offered in partnership with Family School Navigation (Formerly Ready 4 Kindergarten), the “Let’s Play” program is a new, free monthly program for two-year-olds and their families. It consists of a monthly one-hour block of play-based learning and socialization with parent/guardian involvement. It is offered with the aim of progressing into the “Look at Me, I’m Three!” program for the following year, and creating a two year skill development on-ramp into Pre-K programming.
To be eligible for this program, a student must reside in the Camden Central School District, and be two years old, or reach that age on or before December 1st, 2025.
Participation for this first meeting will be limited to 15 children, and will be on a first-contact, first-serve basis. Additionally, choice of date will operate on the same basis. RSVPs are required each month. To reserve your spot, or if you have questions, contact our Family School Navigator, Patti Ferretti, at 315-245-2616, extension 5200, or at pferretti@camdencsd.org.

During the week of October 31st, the Camden High School Unified Fine Arts Club held its first meeting of the year to get into the holiday spirit! The club came together to produce a step-by-step Haunted House drawing!
The Unified Fine Arts Club was created as a parallel to our successful Unified Sports programs. In Unified Sports, students with disabilities work alongside students without disabilities to achieve a common goal together - and that spirit translates beautifully to the arts. Throughout each meeting, students create together. They collaborate on ideas and work on practical solutions together to produce a finished project that they can take home! And along the way, each student makes a few new friends, too!

If you've seen our teachers wandering the halls today, don't sweat it - they made sure to fill out SmartPass first!
