Camping is a favorite summer activity in our area, so it was only fitting that Mrs. Holmes and Mrs. Fairbrother’s classes came together for an educational end-of-year “Camping” adventure!
The class transformed desks into tents by using binders and plastic tablecloths to create “Camp Read A Lot” The students brought pillows, blankets, stuffed animals and flashlights for their individual tents.
Throughout the day, they rotated around to different centers where each center had a camping theme. For example, there was a money center where they had to match the cost of camping items with the correct coins. They did a graphing activity with camping items, created a map of a campground, wrote about a camping trip they have taken or would like to take, and read in tents with their flashlights. At the end of the day, the classes got together for a campfire sing-a-long.

Is your child looking for something to do between the holiday weekend and the start of Camp Sum-More-Fun? Well, the Connected Community Schools team has some answers for you!

She has yet to start her first school year with us, but our new high school agriculture teacher, Miss Erin Curtis, is already preparing. She's out and about learning new things to bring to Camden at a CASE (Curriculum for Agriculture Science Education) training event this week!

From June 20th to 22nd, members of the team at Camden Middle School visited Arlington, VA and Washington DC to accept the award for being one of 42 schools recognized as a National School to Watch at the National Middle Level Forum Conference. On hand to accept the award were Mrs. DerCola, Mrs. Trnchik, Dr. Baker, Mrs. Morrison and Mrs. Smith. Congratulations to our entire middle school team, and our students, on this achievement!

Congratulations to Brooke Musch on receiving All-CNY Large School Player of the Year honors in Softball!
We've got more awards to talk about.... plenty more. So stay tuned for that.

We haven't quite reached the "Dog Days of Summer" yet, but it seems that nobody told Mr. Evangelist that.

Mr. Ferretti is grilling for CES Students and Staff today!
We guess it's a pretty good time to break out the Mets apron, too. Since Grimace threw out the first pitch at a Mets home game on June 12th, they have won six straight games.

Mrs. Willson's homeroom and the rest of the 6th grade recently spent a busy day at the John S. Dyson NY Energy Zone and the Utica Zoo. At the Energy Zone, students completed challenges and learned how energy arrives at their homes. The Utica Zoo had many exhibits to visit and animals to see. It was a great day!

The CMS Library Media Center has many past yearbooks. Two of our eighth graders recently took time to go through the past yearbooks to see how much they've grown!!!

On June 13th, the Camden Central School District Music Department held an Instrument Recruitment Night for students interested in playing an instrument. It was an exciting opportunity for children to explore various instruments and speak with music teachers about their interests. If any parents missed the event but are still interested in enrolling their child, they can contact a music teacher for more information about opportunities.
